Dreambox as IPTV source

My Dreambox Ethernet port died years ago so it's had no connectivity. I've just picked up DM500C replacement running PLi Jade and was wondering whether it's possible to stream direct to NextPVR using the inbuilt streaming using the IPTV source. I tried all combinations of this but none worked so I'm guessing the answer is no but was just curious if there was something I may have missed.

It's been years since I played around with a dreambox. Does it make the transport stream available over HTTP, or UDP?

It has HTTP streaming https://wiki.openpli.org/GenericStream but I had no luck with this.

Have you got any plans to directly support .m3u8 feeds as an IPTV channel sub? It'd be an awesome feature as it could mean having Australian channels as a source for recording/watching complete with EPG.

Do you mean a .m3u for a list of channel urls, or .m3u8 for a single channel using HLS?

In theory it does already support recording .m3u8 channels, but doesn't work so great for live tv (because of the bursty nature of the video being delivered as segments). I'm trying to resolve this. 3.9.2 also had an issue with these URLs using a host name rather than an IP address. This is fixed for the next release.

For .m3u, if you download it with your browser, what do the channels URLs look like?

I'm meaning a single channel HLS feed such as those that all the Aussie TV channels have. Some require a DNS service to work but that's not an issue these days. Here's an example https://sevenwestmedia01-i.akamaihd.net/..._high.m3u8

When I actually tried this source again I still can't select OK on the add screen - it obviously doesn't accept it as a valid URL. Is this the issue?

Ahh it seems it won't accept HTTPS in the URL, just HTTP

I think it's because it's https. The built in stuff will only handle udp/http, so it's disallowing your https url.

In theory, the 'Internet Source IPTV' option should be able to cope with it, since it passes it through ffmpeg. I'll make sure the next release will allow your to enter an https url with this type of stream selected.
