I'm trying to locate the option to modify channels types, due to Comcast changing encoding from TS to MGEG-4. I have just re-installed version 3.9.2 (161119), but still no luck. This option was added in January of 2016, yet for some reason, I don't have access to it. I must assume that I've done something wrong again. Can someone kindly help me?
[SUB]NPVR 4.2.4 (190307) OTA with Win7 Ultimate & Win10 Pro, Hauppauge Quad PCI, Schedules Direct.[/SUB]

Are you looking for Settings --> Channels --> Details --> Edit Digital Tuning --> Service Type ?

For completeness ... TS is a container format (used by broadcasters as a transport stream containing video and other data about the broadcast) and TS streams can contain either MPEG2 or MPEG4 video streams. I don't mean to fault your description but I wouldn't want you to get a headache while trying to figure out which channels have changed.

One point of clarification. You are going to get a .ts stream file either way. What you are referring to is the encoding method for the video stream in the .ts file. Comcast has recently been going through and switching many of their channels from MPEG-2 to H.264 (MPEG-4) video encoding.

You don't specify what tuner device(s) you are using or include any logs, but your signature lists "Ceton PCI", so I'm going to guess that you have a Ceton PCI CableCard tuner and you are using sub's (still limited?) built-in support for it. In that case, I'm also going to guess that sub hasn't yet added support for specifying that the video encoding for a channel is H.264. He added limited support for that with the HDHR Primes a little while back. (I say limited because I believe that it still doesn't automatically detect that a channel uses H.264, you have to manually set it for each applicable channel.) FYI, with the HDHR at least, the H.264 setting only affects watching channels live--recordings will work fine regardless of the setting.

FYI: with the HDHR Prime, to change a channel from MPEG2 to H.264, you go to Devices, select the device, Device Setup, select the channel, right-click and Edit Channel. You might try that with a Ceton and see if it works. Also, with the HDHR Prime, I get options for MPEG2 SD, MPEG2 HD, H.264 SD, H.264 HD, and others. I recall reading here that sub said there isn't any difference between the SD and HD selections so you should be able to select either one.
