Is there any way to get NextPVR to name and organize your TV show recordings by episode title without using Schedules Direct?

You need a an EPG data source that includes series and episode numbers. Some folk have had success with zap2xml to produce an xmltv file that can be imported into NextPVR.

You really shouldn't propose something unless you plan on supporting it. A lot of people have trouble with the tricky configuration and generate lots of follow up posts.

Schedules Direct is well worth the money.

You're right, as always ... I did think about adding a health warning ... I probably should have. I agree with you on Schedules Direct (I agree so much that I pay for it and use it ... even though the UK content is poor).

I actually have set up and used zap2it, and I have used windows task manager to schedule it to download new program data on a regular basis. However, the resulting xmltv file apparentyly does not contain the neccesary program information. It populates the TV Guide in NextPVR just fine, but the recordings are not named with the episdoe number and titie. They are just named by the name of the TV shows and the date of the recording. (And I did set the channels in NextPVR's settings to use the xmltv file as their EPG source, not just the over the air EPG.)

Please, please, please, please, please just spend the $25 a year for Schedules Direct. You will spend so much time trying to get any of the other free workarounds actually working consistently that you'll curse yourself and pay the $25 just to end the misery. So skip the misery part.

Does NextPVR Settings --> Recording --> Use S01E01 file naming ... give you the filenames that you want?

No. I have that enabled.

Yeah, I thought it might be too much trouble for it to be worth dealing with. Everything worked perfectly the instant I set up Schedules Direct.

Schedules Direct is more than worth the money as they really now bring it all together.
