I'm assuming you're not using wifi? If so, maybe HDHR+IPTV is too much network traffic?

This is pretty much a shot in the dark, but if you multiple drive in the server, you might try it with the recording from IPTV going to one drive and the recording from HDHR going to a different drive. Several versions back, there was a "feature" Smile with the HDHR Prime recording mechanism where it would write out to the drive in large bursts periodically which caused problems which is why I thought of trying this.

If is consistently doing it for you though, there is some additional stuff we can turn on to capture the streams as they arrive, so we can see what is coming from your network interface.

I can tell you what Emby says I'm receiving when recording. The IPTV recording files are 1080p H264 with AAC Stereo. That's virtually the same as my Sonarr downloaded videos although I opt for 720, so I'm getting 720p H264 AAC Stereo files. My downloads and IPTV files play without any problem. The HDHR/Cox recording files are 1080i MPEG 2 with Dolby Digital 5.1 files. Sometimes they play, sometimes they don't and they usually have sound/video sync problems.
Here are a couple of short comparison files. I believe the larger one is the cable file. https://1drv.ms/f/s!AsC4JWlL_dbdpxZcUFxoe_gVzPP_

Here's a link to two minute recording of the same program recorded from cable only: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AsC4JWlL_dbdpxmgCvhqhrHfp6FK

Today I recorded only cable channels, no IPTV. HDHR tuner was set to default and LAV codecs were used with the previous codec box unticked. Everything was basically fine on both the client and the server. I did have to reboot the client machine once when audio/video sync went wonky during playback but rebooting corrected that. I also note I have to close NPVR and restart it to play recorded video after playing downloaded video.

Can you check how your CPU performance is looking when both an HDHR and IPTV recording are happening? We've got to try working out why either packets aren't getting delivered (like network collisions) or they're being thrown away because the application is able to read them fast enough from the UDP socket (like CPU constraints)

Doesn't look bad. The same program being simultaneously recorded on HDHR and IPTV. https://1drv.ms/f/s!AsC4JWlL_dbdpx10iZk6Ro1t4PPB

I did note when playing back recordings tonight that a program which was the only recording played perfectly. When two programs were recorded at the same time there was some minor audio/video sync problems that were fairly easy to correct. When I recorded three programs at the same time, all of them had more severe sync problems which kept going out again after correcting. My correcting process was to back skip and then forward skip the same time. Occasionally, the only way to get in sync was to close the program and then reopen again.

I watch almost all videos on my client machine. Both it and the server are Win 10 Home and are connected by cat 5 ethernet. In looking today I started watching the server more and then comparing to the client. The video quality seems the same but the client is having a problem with video/sound synchronization, with the server doesn't appear to have. I realize that's probably a network problem but I have no idea where to look for a solution. Any suggestions? I should also add that these sync problems are occuring on mpg2 files while h264 and h265 files play just fine on the client.

client/server adds more complications and it's own issue into the mix, so in many ways it makes sense to focus on what is happening directly on the server initially, and once that is working well, look into any extra issues related to client/server.

You can try capturing the raw data arriving from the HDHR by creating a c:\temp directory, and setting:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\NPVR\ DumpNetPush=1 (DWORD)

Start a recording with HDHR, let it run for a little bit, then start a IPTV recording to overlap, then end both recordings. Check that the HDHR recording has problems playing at the time the IPTV playback kicks in. Then try playing the c:\temp\dump.ts to see if it has the same issue. This is a dump of all the data arriving from the HDHR over the network.

I may have inadvertently solved the problem. I opened my router to review its settings, saw an update was available and took it. That required a reboot of the server and now the client is almost perfect. I doubt the update had anything to do with this but the reboot may well have. So, for now, I'm just going to watch and see what happens. At this time 4.0.5 is working much better than 4.0.4 ever did.
