Unable to watch Live TV while Updating EPG and update fails if already watching TV

I use the DVB/ATSC EPG source for updating the EPG. It works great other than it takes like 10-15 mins to update. During the update I'm locked out of watching Live TV however and if I'm already watching TV when the update is scheduled it will fail and not update. Is this by design? My tuner card has 2 TV tuners so it seems one could be used for updating the EPG and the other could still watch live TV?

Honestly, it's a waste of time even worrying about the DVB/ATSC EPG in North America (since they only broadcast a few hours of listings). You'd be better off switching to Schedules Direct, where you'll get quick EPG updates, multiple weeks of listings, show subtitles, season/episode info, and artwork.

It usually fills in around 12 hours of listings for me which works fine. Is it not possible to allow Live TV when it's being updated then? Schedules Direct isn't free that's why I don't use it.

Usually people have it run at like 4am in the morning when they wouldn't otherwise be using their tuners, but it should still be able to record or watch live tv using the other tuner. It may be slightly different if you'd explicitly clicked the 'update epg' button though. You'd also have to have one set of channels, not two. (ie, merged channels were all channels are provided by both tuners, rather than each having been scanned separately)

I created a custom windows scheduled task to update the guide twice a day since it only fills in 12 hours at a time. I use the -updateepgonly switch to initiate the update. Is that the same as clicking the button in the app settings? Maybe that's why it doesn't work?

Were you watching live tv and kicked you out, or you tried to start watching live tv while it was doing the EPG update?

So I figured out that the 2nd tuner needed the channel line up added. If you look at my screen shot above the second tuner has 0 channels. I just exported the lineup from tuner 1 and imported into tuner 2. Now I'm able to update the guide and watch TV at the same time so should be good now. Thanks!
