I'm using nextPVR to view my IPTV streams with great success.

However I have a M3U file that contains a link

http://website/movie/user/password/8691.mp4

This plays OK using VLC but doesn't on NextPVR. Before I explore deeper into this is playback of mp4 streams supported by NextPVR?

Thanks, Paul

NextPVR uses Windows Media Player to play files. NextPVR will play anything that Windows Media Player will play. It may be that you don't have an MP4 decoder installed for Media Player.

VLC uses its own internal decoders that are not available to WMC.

Yes, it should support these.

When it comes to streams other than .ts or .m3u8 streams, like .mp4, it needs to transcode the stream to .ts while downloading, but this should happen automatically. Do you see the channel listed in your guide, or in the OnDemand screen?

Well that is a good question. The MP4 file is included in my M3U playlist and these all appear in the TV Guide. When I select the On Demand screen (first time I have done this) I get an exception error (text attached). I haven't done anything explicit to set up the On Demand section. In fact I can't see any method to do this.

Can you try again, then zip and attach your logs?

On Demand selected, exception error displayed, then logs attached.

You likely need to use the default skin for the new screen

Yeah, it's a skin error. You'll need to switch back to the default skin.

You may also need to update the ffmpeg.exe in C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\Other, with the updated version at http://nextpvr.com/ffmpeg.zip

Changing the skin to default cleared the exception error. Updating ffmpeg enabled the stream to play.

Thank you all for your assistance.
