I've been struggling with this one for the past month.

I've used NextPVR for the past 4 years with minimal problems. I used a HDHomerun HDHR (yes original) till last year when I did an upgrade to the HDHomerun Connect. I added the connect and remapped my channels and everything worked fine, EPG would populate fine. Last month I added a HDHomerun Prime. And that's where the problem starts.

I use zap2xml to get EPG data. Since the Connect is antenna and Prime is cable there are different sets of channels that doesn't overlap for everything. I went ahead and tried out 2 different accounts and seperated the XMLTV files into two seperate folders. I then went ahead and mapped my channels to whatever XMLTV file they needed. Then I emptied the EPG and did an update. The end result was half the EPG populating. In researching the issue I found some advise that said the issue might clear up in a day or two. So that's what I did I waited and still the issue persisted.

Next I thought maybe the issue was that I was using separate XMLTV files. So I did some more research and decided to try merging the XMLTV files using XMLTV GUI. I outputed the merged file to another folder and tried that. And same issue, only part of the guide gets updated. So as a last resort I tried using all three XMLTV files I got some interesting results and found a new problem.

1] I setup the first channel to my Cable XMLTV:

2] I set the next channel to Antenna XMLTV:

3] Another channel to Merged XMLTV:

4] Finally now a second channel to Antenna XMLTV:

5] I emptied and updated the EPG, started NextPVR and here is the result:

continued...

6] I went back to the second antenna channel to see what happened and found that the channel mapping did not save:

I'm at a lost to what is going on, some channels populate some don't, channel mappings not saving correctly. Thanks in advance for any help.

My logs are attached.

The npvr.log.3 has this ...

Quote:2018-02-18 08:56:08.974 [DEBUG][8] Deleting old listings from Channel OID: 7399 (MeTV)
2018-02-18 08:56:08.975 [DEBUG][8] Deleting old listings from Channel OID: 7420 (MeTV)

There are other examples of duplicated channel names.

Are the two examples of "MeTV" actually the same channel and broadcasting the same shows? Do you care which version of the channel is used to make a recording (antenna or cable)? If the channels are equivalents, you could merge the duplicates into a single channel and let NextPVR decide whether to record on the cable channel or the antenna channel ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...on.BulkMap ... or you should get a "merge" option if you select several channels at NextPVR Settings --> Channels and right click.

The content of your xmltv files is between you and zap2xml but the npvr.log.3 has this ...

Quote:2018-02-18 08:55:52.830 [INFO][8] -channel: 'MeTV' has 243 listings
2018-02-18 08:55:52.837 [INFO][8] -channel: 'MeTV' has 37 listings

This suggests that one xmltv file has radically different listings to another. There are other examples of this difference with other channels.

For completeness, NextPVR uses tuners in order from the top down in the list at NextPVR Settings --> Devices. Put the, for example, cable tuner at the top of the list if you prefer that NextPVR use this tuner whenever possible.

I've thought about merging channels but there are two issues:

1] My HDHomerun Prime keeps timing out, while the Connect doesn't. It doesn't matter what app I use (Live TV on Android TV, HDHomerun's own app, etc) the Prime will time out. I use Kodi as the front end for NextPVR and have had the Prime channels timeout. I've researched the issue and am waiting to see if there next firmware update fixes the issue, as others have complained about the issue on the HDHomerun forum.

2] I have a lot of duplicate channels. Some duplicates come from different affiliates. And unfortunately one of the MeTV affiliates likes to interject their own programming. The other issue is cable compresses the signal badly for a lot of the duplicate channels. So I like prioritizing antenna over cable.

For now I figured it was easier to keep the channels separate so I could pick and choose recording and viewing more precisely.

My ultimate solution to this problem would be dumping cable altogether, but there are 6 channels the family wants that I can't get OTA because of mountains.

But your suggestion about device priority is something I never considered. That might be the way I go next.

I'm also wondering at this point if it would be better to uninstall and start fresh.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

UPDATE: It's all fixed now.

I ended up backing up everything, uninsalling and doing a reinstall. I then set device priority, rescanned and went to setup my channels again. I did a small test and noticed that my guide was still not updating for OTA channels. So I ended backing up and re-doing my zap2xml setup. Got a new set of XMLTV files to work with, and when I did a small test the EPG properly updated and filled.

So starting fresh was the fix. I also noticed since doing that things are running a little smoother.

Thanks again for the help!
