I currently have OTA tuners and HDHomeRun Cable card devices running through one NextPVR server. I have noticed that NextPVR shows an IPTV device in the device list. I live in the US and I am not looking for anything illegal. I see services like USIPTV and I am wondering if it is worth it? Do these services work like my current setup with a guide, recording, recording timers, record and watch multiple streams at the same time, etc?

I am looking for any advice or guidance on this topic.

Thank you

There isn't much in the way of legal IPTV services out there, but in general yes you can get a guide and just use it like you would any other tuner for scheduling recordings etc. I'm using a legal service here in NZ, which streams most of our freeview channels, and provides a guide.

At the very least, you can add like NasaTV, RT, BBCWorld, Al Jazeera etc, but I'm not sure if these one-off streams provide a guide.

The BBC are not allowed to broadcast "domestic" channels anywhere except the UK. Any service that offers, for example, BBC1 or BBC2 outside of the UK is stealing the BBC stream.

The legal IPTV services won't work with NPVR as they won't provide you with an m3u link for stations and an XML link for an epg. The Playstation service won't work with NPVR but they do provide cloud dvr service so you wouldn't lose that ability. You would need an Amazon Firestick or an Android box to use them, however. Many of the questionable IPTV services will work with NPVR since they do provide m3u and XML links. There's no doubt many of their channels are being broadcast illegally (BBC, ITV, etc.) but there's a real question whether it's illegal to receive those channels. Are you breaking the law if you wear a fake Rolex or have a fake designer purse? I don't know the answer to that but I'm not seeing any effort to legally go after those who receive those channels. It would seem more likely the government would attempt to shut the IPTV services down if they were really concerned. At least that would be far more effective than going after millions of users.

It's not uncommon for IPTV providers to have problems from time to time, with sometimes channels not working etc. Some IPTV providers are better than others in for this. This type of stuff is usually outside of the control of NextPVR though.

If you record uk tv gold, do you get the same problem playing a recording? If so, can you supply a short sample recording? (put it somewhere like dropbox or one drive, and let me know the download link)

most channels dont work and the ones that work keep getting stuck in a loop

Good programming - channels at times are not available.
Some buffering on Live sports events.

A good system, except for the fact that many of the channels keep freezing, making it very unreliable.

Freezing channels and poor performance over a 100MB internet, Video replay is fine live TV sucks
