@Spaceboy you may need to restart the recording service. Whatever your did trying to play NextPVR's channel.m3u the client tried to play every channel in the m3u file very quickly and NextPVR reacted very poorly to the request, Curious why your are trying to play IPTV channels using NextPVR's m3u feature when you could just play the IPTV m3u file on the client directly with a lot less pain.

hi, thanks but there are no iptv channels set up in npvr at present. there were but i deleted them and went back to simple dvbs to try and eliminate this as the problem. perhaps there is something left in the config though.

as to the other question, i do want to use an m3u in npvr, why, well i'd like to record from them and npvr combined with kodi seemed like a perfect solution to this. i initially loaded all the channels (there are 5000 of them, but npvr doesnt seem to offer the option of importing from a local edited m3u) to npvr in one go through the import function, perhaps that was the wrong thing to do? it all works fine in npvr on the server but i need an android tv client and i don't see anything other than spmc/kodi

You should be able to enter a local filename. If it doesn't, try a format like file://c:\somewhere\test.m3u

The logs aren't clear but I am speculating that your EPG data is creating too many channel groups, maybe for every on demand series/movie causing a time-out.

hi martin, thanks that got me there. the channel groups from when i was trialling the iptv m3u remained after removing the channels and the number of them appeared to be too much for kodi. i removed the empty groups and it worked fine with the 2 dvbs channels so then added back the m3u and removed all the VOD groups and channels. kodi is syncing fine now.

and in response to your earlier question, which may get approved at some point, the reason why i want to do this rather than just using the m3u direct in kodi is that i want to be able to record from the m3u and then watch the content on android tv. this combination of npvr and spmc seemed ideal!

thanks again!
