video freezes and jerks on channel change

It might be worth trying the other Audio Renderer options, to see if they help. Most people should just stick with the default, but there has been a couple of people that needed to use another of their audio renderers to get smooth playback.

Well sonny guns! I'd played with the video decoders but it never occurred to me to change the audio. Went from Microsoft default ac3 to the Hauppauge ac3 and everything smoothed right on out. Detected a little audio cutout so put the ffdshow in there. I'll see how that works out. At any rate, now I know what the big snafu was. I had uninstalled and reinstalled the card drivers, installed Visual C 2008, since it was on the other pc. I even installed Visual C 2022. Had to travel into the future to get that. And all I needed was a different ac3 decoder. Thanks so much. It's obvious how busy you are and you take the time to help dummies like me. Will definitely show my appreciation as best I can.
