Looking to update one of my old RPi's from XBMC to Kodi. Any comments on the "best" distro to use for running with XNEWA add-on?

I have been using LibreElec on a RPi2 and also on two Nettop PCs for a couple of years. Its so easy to setup and works well. Recently added Wi-Fi dongle so no longer need to run network cable the length of the room! I run X-NEWA addon to turn it into a NextPVR client.

I've been using Libreelec with X-NEWA as my primary client (first on an RPi 2, then a 3, now a 3+) for many years now. It works pretty well.

+1 for LibreElec, good instructions, very easy to setup and keep updated. I've tried a couple others you've listed, but settled on LibreElec.

OSMC is absolutely dead simple. Put SD card in computer. Download installer, run installer (which puts everything on the card), put card in Pi, boot. Done. The support forum is invaluable if you happen to run into problems.

I have used Openelec but now use Libreelec and have done for a number of years. Seems to work well on 2+ and 3. They are all similar, I think I moved to LibreELEC whith a Kodi update that changed something but can't remember the details. I too run X-NEWA which is auto launched at startup. I also use the TV remote as it controls the Pi through CEC.

Another vote for OSMC. I stared with libreelec but switched to OSMC a few years ago after a few aggravating network problems with libreelec. In all fairness libreelec may be fine now, but OSMC has been bulletproof and simple to clone. I'm running 4 Rpi3 Kodi clients, all identical so every TV in the house looks and works exactly the same as the others which is a necessity to maintain TV bliss with a 83 year old MIL and 87 year old father, not to mention the other half all under the same roof. All 4 Rpi's are running wireless with a 5mhz dongles.

Okay, I'll take a look at OSMC and LibreElec and give one of those a go. Thanks for the feedback!
