NextPVR crash and won't now run - how do I recover?

NextPVR has been working well but suddenly today will not work. Below is the information from event viewer.

I have tried upgrading to the latest version but it seems to make no difference.

If I click on NextPVR status I get a blank screen and the process just seems to crash. The strange thing is that I have made no changes to my system at all today.

How do I recover from this? Is there a way to uninstall the program and reinstall without loosing all the information/settings etc?

There are often problems when users try the undocumented customized install as you have done.

P:\Multimedia\TV\NextPVR\NPVR\NextPVR.exe

If your config.xml and npvr.db3 database are ok just save them and reinstall them over a fresh install.

Do you a NPVR.log in C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs?

If you temporarily rename C:\Users\Public\NPVR\config.xml to something else, does the app then start?

There is nothing in the log for today. When I rename the config.xml file the app then starts. Why is that given that I haven't changed anything today?

I'm not sure where NextPVR is meant to be installed but my boot drive is a small SSD with limited space so I have little option but to put apps on a second SSD. Is that what you were referring to?

We've seen that about 3 times over the last 10 years. It sounds like that file has some how been corrupted, like you ran out of disk space midway through saving config.xml, so you ended up with a partial file (which is what we saw with a past user). Alternatively, maybe the machine was switched off, rebooted, or app died in the middle of saving config.xml.

Thank you so much for your help. You are correct. For some reason my Nvidea card driver caused a system crash yesterday and I hadn't used NextPVR since. I don't know why it suddenly crashed as again I hadn't done any system updates and it had been stable for ages. Something is strange about Nvidea on my system though as each time I have tried to update the driver it fails and Nvidea did not know why.

Do I need to do anything to recover from it e.g do I need to change settings or anything?

Renaming config.xml would have caused it to make a new one from the default config, so you'll need to reset any special settings you made, like recording directory, choice of decoders etc.
