Would you believe it looks as though the auto update worked without crashing this morning. Clean logs attached. also crash dump from 11/05/2019 which was the last one generated.
Thanks - annoyingly both of these files are loading up fine for me, without getting the crash. We may have just been unlucky and not caught the problem condition in these specific files.

I tried both the debug binaries (which is what I normally use), and the release binaries (which is what you guys use), but it wouldn't crash with either of them. Usually these two versions behave the same, but very occasionally we'll see crashes in the release binaries, but not in the debug binaries, but that wasn't the case here - worth checking though.

Again clean logs attached.
Update - just went in to the program guide - No show details everywhere. Sad

found the No show details was mainly due to the PCI-E Tuner developing a lack of interest (black screen on DVB-T channels) cured by cold reboot.

There are still some missing shows from tomorrow onward, may be worth changing epg scan to 90 seconds to see if that picks them up.

Wondering if there has been some dodgy characters hanging around in the UK program guide (alphanumeric - not EastEnders Big Grin ) causing the crashes.

Guess we will have to see if it starts happening again and then grab another full ts.

I will try and capture data this weekend. I've been limiting frequencies and doing only 30s captures to make it pass. But i'll put it back to normal and see what happens.

Annoyingly, mine just did a full freq 60s scan okay. It must be either some random signal problem or its the data that they sometimes broadcast in the EPG which is causing the problem. Since you said its all CRCed I suspect the latter.

Will keep on trying this weekend.

Ok - just let me know when you've got files you want me to try.

Reception might be CRC'd but I suspect it all started last year when the double byte unicode characters started to get received when bad data was getting imported. The fix in 4.2.4 might be incomplete. There is also the issue that NextPVR is sometimes capturing thousands of EPG items for one channel which has been a problem in the past.

In my case it's gone back to normal. I suspect like others, it could be some rogue character(s) in the broadcast epg that upsets things but once that day has passed (or they edit it), things return to normal.

Seeing as the problem seemed to last about 12 weeks, I am wondering if it was a series that had odd characters in the title - one of those Scandinavian language detective series that the BBC likes to show or something.

Also now I have changed the epg scan time to 90 seconds I am getting less "No show Details" 3 or 4 days ahead.

There are definitely some Uk Channels with a huge amount of program entries - the other day I saw in the logs Channel 5 downloaded over 3000 entries for 7 days - if they were all valid that would make about 20 shows an hour 24 / 7 which is not the case.

That's normal - remember the broadcaster is continuously broadcasting the guide from beginning to end. Over the course of that 90 seconds, it may have received the guide several times over for some channels. The duplicates will just be discarded.

Yes, the problem has disappeared here as well. Its doing all 8 channels at 60s each. As soon as they broadcast that pesky EPG data again which makes it crash i'll update you
