Many times, I and others have tried to schedule a program for recording expecting the entry in the guide to turn red. But it doesn't and the program is not scheduled. No reason why. After long experience, I learned that one must execute NextPVR.exe with the -removehistory parameter to remove the item from the deleted history. The guide entry will now turn red and the program will be scheduled.

I'd like to suggest that when a user uses the guide to schedule a program, honor the request AFTER automatically deleting it from the delete history. Simply delete the entry whether or not it exists. Is there some other rationale for not doing this?

Thanks.

Why are you creating a recurring recording, doesn't a one time recording should record a duplicate? If you want recurring recordings your solution only helps for two weeks of shows, it deletes the shows in the current guide but potentially that night new duplicates could start.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. If I delete a recurring recording(series) from the Recurring Recordings screen, then use the guide to record a single episode from the series that was just deleted, the guide entry will not turn red and the episode will not record. Only after launching NextPVR.exe -removehistory can I use the guide to schedule that single episode or, for that matter, re-enter the series as a recurring recording. The main point is that I'm manually using the guide to schedule the recording and not getting any feedback on its success. I'm suggesting that a manual operation using the guide should automatically delete any reference to the programs being scheduled and allow the them to be recorded.

Hope I this clarifies the situation.

Thanks JohnC I thought one-off recordings ignored history, they certainly should.

one-off recordings don't use the history, so absolutely should turn red.

I agree that one-offs should ignore history. Maybe it is but the entry does not go red. That's a bug if it doesn't, right?

I checked here and it seem to work as expected. Can you supply your npvr.db3, and let me know the names/times of a show you should already have in your history?

Just ran through a test to see if my problem is repeatable. No such luck. These are the steps I took:

-Restarted NRecord service to start new logs. Attached.
-Canceled series recording Elementary. Entries turn black, not in schedule.
-Tried scheduling single Elementary episode: OK, red, in schedule.
-Unscheduled that episode: OK, green, not in schedule.
-Scheduled next week's episode: OK red, in schedule.
-Unscheduled that episode: OK, green, no in schedule.
-Scheduled series: OK, all red, all in schedule. This is where it wasn't turning red. Now it does.

Sorry for the false flag. Maybe because I removed the history? Started a new log? I have no copy of the database before I removed the history. I'll keep tracking this issue and see what I did to create it.

Thanks for your patience.

Ok cool - let me know the details if you have any recurrence.
