Honestly though, you're better off using the actual NextPVR plugin for Emby. When you try to use m3u, Emby isn't going to know what channels can be recorded at what times, and so you'll end up with failed recordings etc.

Thanks Sub,

Sorry for the lack of knowledge, but does that mean (assuming I have 2 tuners, 2 channels) the M3U should look like this:

#EXTM3U

#EXTINF:0, 28 - Fox
http://127.0.0.1:8866/&client=1?channel=28

#EXTINF:0, 28 - Fox
http://127.0.0.1:8866/&client=2?channel=28

#EXTINF:0, 185 - MSNBC
http://127.0.0.1:8866/&client=1?channel=185

#EXTINF:0, 185 - MSNBC
http://127.0.0.1:8866/&client=2?channel=185

I use Emby to aggregate all of my other media (photos, videos etc..). I like the way Emby collects and displays EPG data in the same UI with all my other media. Can't do that with the plugin.

I'm new to NextPVR, but gotta say dam... this is a powerful platform for TV.

Thanks for the guidance... I'll try adding to the M3U.

When you import the channels, you can import it from http://ipaddress:8866/channels?client=session1. You'd probably have to set the maximum number of connections to 1.

If you had a second tuner, you could also import http://ipaddress:8866/channels?client=session2. You'd also have to set that to a maximum of 1 connection.

With the Emby NextPVR plugin, I don't know why they wouldn't show channels and recordings etc, all in the same place, regardless of whether it was recording by a built in PVR components vs or an external PVR components (like NextPVR). I've never used Emby though, so I wouldn't know. I know Kodi certainly treats things equally. If they do treat things differently, they're probably doing it to try to force people to use their built in stuff over other PVR backend options.

#EXTINF:0, 185 - MSNBC
http://127.0.0.1:8866/&client=2?channel=185

You need make it look more like this

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:0, 28 - Fox
http://127.0.0.1:8866/live?channel=28&client=28
#EXTINF:0, 185 - MSNBC
http://127.0.0.1:8866/live?channel=185&client=185

Then in emby after add the m3u tuner edit it change Simultaneous stream limit: (Max number you have) so have 8 set it to 8 or what the case maybe be

Regardless of whether you use Kodi, Emby, Plex or NextPVR for that matter if you want to combine recordings with files you acquire or capture via other means you have to configure the appropriate video library folders for scanning (Kodi, Plex, Emby) or playback in NextPVR. This implies good EPG data like Schedules Direct.

The channel/client mapping is ok but it doesn't give you more tuners then you have. The big issue with using the m3u approach and not the NextPVR plugin is from a NextPVR perspective, links from Emby are all the same so Emby recordings are not prioritized over live tv being played in Kodi, NextPVR or Emby
