It's the same problem as a direct SD map on the HDHR devices NextPVR is using the SD callsign rather than the nicer OTA identification.

The 'map strategy' is about how it finds the channel matches. This is not related to whether the channel is renamed.

'Names and Identifiers' mostly matches based on channel numbers. ie if you've got a channel 2.1, and the SD Lineup as a channel 2.1, they'll be considered a match. (In some countries, it can also match on ONID/TSID/SID if SD provide this in the lineup data)

'Channel Names' does the match purely on names. ie, if you've got a channel called 'BBC America', and the guide has a channel called 'BBC America', they'll be considered a match. (when looking for the match it removes spaces and punctuation and case, to maximize the chances of finding the channel)

I'll look into adding a checkbox on that popup for the next release, labelled something like 'rename channels to match guide data'

When I map using id it it took the SD guide name I would like it not to overwrite the data if it is there.

That checkbox I mentioned above will give you that control.
