Not playing channels

Am just wondering, have tried to play a few channels in the NextPVR app, then a few in localhost in Chrome, then a few in the app, and just getting a blank screen in the app or 'transcoding failed' in Chrome.

I'm also using Handbrake at the same time which obviously sucks up nearly all the processing power, so should I just expect it not to be able to play any channels at the moment, or should it play anyway ?

I don't think it is handbrake I am not seeing locked=1 on your signals today.

OK. I'll try restarting NextPVR server. Just though I'd ask first.

Restarted and still the same. IPTV plays though.

What does that Locked thing mean ?

Maybe just restarting the PC will fix it, though its going to be Handbraking for hours yet...

Watching video in the web browser can be relatively CPU intensive. If Handbrake is using all the available CPU, yes it could be a problem. You'd probably have to try with and without Handbrake to see if your PC is up to doing both at the same time.

What does that Locked thing mean ?

If you capture device has not locked onto a signal, it means the device isn't going to deliver the stream to NextPVR, which will obviously result in no video. If you don't have a signal, you'll get zero byte recordings, and wont be able to watch these channels. (just to complicate matters, some devices don't always accurately report this info)

Is your device still working in any software? If not, double check your cabling, and any splitters etc. If you had bad weather, maybe your dish as moved?

I've tried restarting the PC (with the dvb-s card in it) several times and going to device manager and disabling and enabling the card, still doesn't work. Also tried in Emby. Sometimes the card seems to decide to just not work and checking connections or just leaving for a while helps.

I'll just have to try plugging the set-top box back into the tv and see if that works directly so I know the dish/lnb is ok. Weathers been ok, just perennially soggy.

I used to have some oddball problem with my HVR-4400 device, where I'd sometimes need to move it to a different PCI slot to get it working. Some driver bug of some type. Looks like you're using one of the same family device, and I wonder if you're seeing the same thing?

(far as I remember it used to work while handbrake was going, though it would take several attempts and/or start up slower and was generally ok if it didn't need to transcode).

Handbrake may be using the CPU in low/idle priority, so as to allow other processes to have the CPU if they want it.

It sounds possible, though unfortunately I haven't got another slot to move it too (well there is one, but the graphics card next to it gets in the way).

Handbrake might be in that mode, though I haven't set anything to do with that and can't look at the moment. My previous post #7 handbrake wasn't running at the time.

I tried live tv using the set top box and that worked fine so its not a dish thing.

I think I did a device driver something when it misbehaved previously and then it started working, just can't remember what it was.

Oh well, got lots of episodes to shrink so I'll carry on with the Handbraking and have a fiddle while its working - you never know. And iptv is ok touch wood.
