OK, this is not really a NPVR problem, but a Colossus issue. I have noticed that many (most) of my recordings have audio issues with AC3. Now, just playing the TS file is not usually an issue. However, what I normally do with things I want to keep for a while is convert them to MP4 to make them smaller and to be consistent. This is where the problems start. Using DVDFab or Movavi Video Converter, I usually get an MP4 that is not playable. If I make a recording and then run it through TSMUXER, it generally complains about a "bad audio block" or something like that, and fixes it (deletes?). After that, Movavi usually works. DVDFab might or might not work. Interestingly, Handbrake seems more forgiving and usually works WITHOUT having to run the file through TSMUXER, but it is much slower. I guess what I'm wondering is whether my Colossus 2 might have issues with audio, or is this something that is common with Colossus. I've tried the usual "shutdown and wait" fix that didn't do anything. I'm using HDMI video and SPDIF audio into NPVR.

Wondering if anyone else has seen such behavior.

I haven't seen this myself, but I just leave my files as .ts files.

When it comes to audio, the Colossus 2 doesn't have an AC3 audio encoder. Instead it just does a passthrough from the source. So...if there is anything non-compliant about your AC3 stream, it could actually be your set top box, or broadcaster that is the ultimate source of the problem.

Bummer. Well, can't do much about that except keep using TSMUXER, I guess. Thanks.

I think I've solved this for anyone who is interested. I have to use a splitter between my colossus and my stb. Turns out these splitters take a time to get themselves together. I used the <WaitLongerBeforeRecordingCapture> set to true and set the <WaitLongerDelay> to 7500 (7.5 seconds) in config.xml to give the splitter time to settle down. The last few recordings have not shown the above problem with the audio track. Time will tell, but it appears this may be a work around for this issue.
