I can't get live tv to work in the desktop app on latest build.  This was working in a previous build.  Looks OK for an instant, then degrades into a pixelated mess.  I fiddled with decoders to no avail.  Best I can tell, recording is working and I can play a recording using the client as well as VLC.  Live TV works in web app. V4 live TV is working fine.   I have decoders set in V5 matching V4.  Attached logs, but I don't see much there.  Colossus 2 on Windows 10.  Using Component/SPDIF.

Something seems wrong at the HDPVR device level it is reporting a very low bitrate coming from the STB

2019-10-27 21:03:00.527 [DEBUG][4] device reports current bitrate as: 4400000
2019-10-27 21:03:00.527 [DEBUG][4] device reports current peak bitrate as: 4600000

Earlier it was much higher

2019-10-27 12:55:38.090 [DEBUG][4] device reports current bitrate as: 9000000
2019-10-27 12:55:38.090 [DEBUG][4] device reports current peak bitrate as: 13500000

Did you try rebooting?

Also not sure if zip my logs works in NexPVR, you might need to use the server. NextPVR is using the wrong (system) data folder.

The bit rate change was me. I noticed that the bit rate in the CONFIG for HDPVR was low compared to what I used in V4, so I changed it to the higher values. When I noticed the LiveTV issue, I changed it back, but it made no difference. Yes, I even tried powering off the computer to reset the Colossus. Live TV was working in build 191007. Also, since V4 Live TV is fine, I don't really think the Colossus is at fault. Live TV is working in the web app. I have NOT tried going back to 191007 to see if that fixes it. Would rather not. I can still use V4 which is working just fine. Also, Hauppauge Capture is working just fine. The only place I'm seeing this is the desktop client.

I had the "zip my files" issue. I just zipped the files in NPVR_Data\logs instead.

Also, I miss spoke in my original note. I'm using HDMI/SPDIF, not COMPONENT/SPDIF. Sorry about that.

I'd like to add my issue also: I cannot watch live TV in the desktop app. Horrible tearing and pixelation. Desktop ctl-k recording plays back perfectly with desktop app or VLC.

Using DCR-3250 with cable card. Logs attached.

Hope you can help. Thanks.

JC

PS - Yes...I posted this issue in another thread but received no replies. I'll try to delete it.

Giving up on this one. I tried going back to a previous build without changing NPVR_data. No dice. I then tried completely reinstalling a previous build, including redoing NPRV_data and it STILL doesn't work. This one has me beat. V4 desktop, Hauppauge capture, WinTV8 and the V5 web app all work fine. Does not sound like it could be Colossus, but it just refuses to work.

I would definitely try the Kodi pvr client, and also knewc if you prefer the NextPVR UI to see if it has the same issue.

Anyone looking into this?

If I manually start the service, the web app plays live TV perfectly but the desktop app has serious tearing issues. Recordings using either app are fine.

Thanks.

New logs are attached. Around 0915, 3 Nov.

Martin,

Don't understand what you were trying to say here

" and also knewc if you prefer the NextPVR UI to see if it has the same issue."

Thanks,

If you want the NextPVR UI with Kodi player you can use knewc in UI client mode.  It can even autostart to hide Kodi.

The Kodi player is much better for me even compared to v4

I tried Kodi. It works (even though there are some strange messages during setup). Essentially EVERYTHING works for live TV for me except the desktop app. Now, I am assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that the desktop app just connects to localhost:xxxx. If so, then the app has to be m problem since every other way of playing live TV works. I've been using the web app successfully, so this is not a great big deal, but it seems quite a few of us can't get live TV working in the desktop app.

Also, forgive me, but I have no clue what knewc is or means.
