Ok I think I've got it. Do you already have dotnet installed /usr/share/dotnet ? It is possible the MS script I called won't download it again.
If you do could if you run sudo ln -s /user/share/dotnet /opt/dotnet does it help? Martin

that did it. However, please note I installed dotnet on my own after it failed to work at initial install (you can see in the console log this was my meager attempt at solving the problem myself). I think the issue is the .deb file does not install dotnet successfully. Also for those reading this thread please note the correct command above should be
sudo ln -s /usr/share/dotnet /opt/dotnet thanks for the weekend help. I just donated $50.

I did not see the dotnet install in the log either let me check if something changes
Edit yes the location for the MS file did get redirected I have to put in a fix. There should have been an error in the stderr log. Martin

sorry you are correct, i did not scroll back far enough in what i zip'd up for you.
my steps to produce this problem were:
If you are itching to know the answer to this i can install again from scratch but not tonight. for now i'm happy (it's running) but I appreciate the desire to have easily reproducible bugs. LMK.

The installer was clearly failing for me because of the change in the location, nothing you did.

If you want to test it cleanly now remove both dotnet folders you have and use this deb installer
