Hi,

I have everything working in GB-PVR, except one feature.
After about an hour, the TV-Out of the 350 freezes, this is a soft freeze, e.g. pressing channel up or down, or home, corrects it.

I can get older versions working (Those that came before the ring fenced buffer) , but since that , I always get this soft freeze.

I am not convinced that this is a PVR-350 OSD issue, as I can now get Sage 2 (With everything going out the PVR 350 TV-OUT) working fine (I had it running for over a week with no problems).

But my preference would be to use GB-PVR, it is simpler to operate and works a lot better with XMLTV.

Does anyone else got this problem ?

Any help gratefully recieved.

Cheers

Mark

Not that its a huge help, but you could make the ring buffer much much larger and would sort of the behave the same way as the pre-ring buffer days.

In regedit, create a DWORD value called "RingBufferSize" in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Devnz\ and set it to a large value. This is the size in bytes of the RingBuffer.

I'm promise I'll also take a close look at this tonight to see if I can see what might be causing your problem

Hello mjp and sub,

I experience the same problem. But I did not know that it is a problem of the ring buffer. The last few minutes before it freezes I have heavy harddisk activity and then it stops. I can also heal the situation by changing the channel or going back to the menu and return to live tv.

Greetings

Hi Sub,

hopefully you got my email address.
I tried to implement the workaround you suggested and increase the value of the Dword Registry entry , but when I increase it past 4294967295 it gives me the error 'The Decimal Value Entered is Greater Than The Maximum Value Of A DWord" It then insists on truncating this to the value shown before allowing me to continue.

As an aside, increasing the size does seem to slow down when the freeze occurs.

I changed it to a small value , to see If I could get the freeze to occur quicker, but that didn't work, it lasts for about 45 mins before freezing, even with a tiny buffer, so I don't see a direct correlation, just a trend.

Cheers

OK, there goes that theory then. I suspected it was locking up when it got to the end of the ring buffer, but you description makes it sound like that isn't the case.

Can either of you try downloading http://www.gbpvr.com/apifix.dll and replacing the existing one you have. This should result in a large text file called apifix.log being created when viewing livetv. Reproduce the problem, then email the log over. Cheers.

OK, I think I may have a resolution for this specific problem. Just to set expectations, this is for the specific bug where LiveTV seemed to soft lock up after about 45 - 60 minutes.

You can download an updated apifix.dll from http://www.gbpvr.com/apifix.dll

This fix wont help users with hardware that doesnt work reliably with the PVR350 drivers.
