Local News M3U8 link doesn't play audio

It doesn't work in v5 same problem it plays is like an m3u8 file because of the m3u8 in the name. However if you use this shortened url
https://bit.ly/2QSLWdM it will work, but it is transcoded.

The fast way is

ffmpeg -i audiostream - i videostream -async 1 -f fmpegts

the slow way is

fffmpeg -i m3u8 -f fmpegts

Yeah, but this doesn't really fit in with the generic way the ffmpeg fall back works. ie, it needs to know a fair bit about the streams etc. I'm still thinking about the best way to handle this.

The quickest way to get him up and running might be an extras.xml file for this channel.

That bitly approach above is the traditional way but extras will work without transcoding and the user can choose between fast and slow muxing.

Here is a Kodi sample from NextPVR show that stream captured with audio. The first stream is the bit.ly shortened URL as IPTV and then the next two show the slow and fast methods of doing an extra. NextPVR is very flexible to user needs.

Just to add a bit of confusion to this thread the shortened urls https://bit.ly/2QSLWdM and https://tinyurl.com/kcxdvqp do "work" but NextPVR shows a different video/audio combination then the extras show. The extras do match what I get with vlc or ffplay for the same shortened URL and the original URL.

so this will work on NextPVR if I use a shortened URL?

Using v5 - loads my IPTV M3U8 url and xmls BUT IGNORES THE CHANNEL GROUPS SET UP BY MY IPTV SERVICE, instead giving me an "all channels" list and nothing more. 
Not sure if a major change between v4 and v5 causes this, just tryring to report a bug

Sorry, I'm aware of this - I broke it in the last build. I've fixed for the next build.

Ok cool i'll keep a look out for the next build. I'll stay with v4 for now. Works great.

Yes and no. You will get a watchable 12 News but it might not be the one you expect.

plugging either of those links into NPVR got me a black screen. 
Playing the link through Kodi works. Other IPTV programs and kodi plugins- it works. VLC- also works. 
Through NPVR 4 , no audio or , using the shortener links, a black screen. 

Note when I say Kodi I am not using NPVR at all. 
Using the NPVR simple IPTV through Kodi probably works, but me and my wife love the default NPVR interface the default windows app has. 
If I use NEWC and use the server interface it doesnt have the same functionality so we launch NPVR through Advanced Launcher.

Either way I thought you guys might want to know this kind of link doesn't work in NPVR while on every other program, it does.
