Hi folks,

I seem to be the only one taking up your time with mac issues. I hope that means there aren't a bunch of mac users and that I am not just a problem child here Undecided

new issue...

npvr Version: 5.0.1.200103
using up-to-date chrome as web browser on two different machines (so I don't *think* it's the client side)
ffmpeg 4.2.2

seems to be recording fine
can play back the recordings fine in web client
can't watch the channels live in the same web client interface[attachment=475][attachment=475][attachment=475][attachment=475]

Anyway.. some logs attached that should show a recording session of less than 10min and a failed effort to watch live.

.zip   logs-20200110-1342.zip (Size: 228.02 KB / Downloads: 3)

oh, one more data point... I have the SiliconDust HDHomeRun app on this mac also and it pops up just fine and pretty quickly when I go to watch the exact same channel live. hope that helps.

Thank you again for your assistance.

Are both your HDHR devices turned on and do they have the same IP as when you installed NextPVR?

Martin

They are (double-checked during trouble shooting).
And npvr finds them just fine to record a show even right after failing to watch one live.

Recordings and live tv use different priority for the tuners. Can you record 4 shows at once?

You're probably almost it for our mac userbase. Big Grin

mac support is still very new though, and no one is telling mac users NextPVR exists, so very few mac people have probably even heard of it.

Is that correct IP address for the device?

yep

I just entered it in my browser and it brought up the HDHR tuner screen.

Martin's comment was interesting about the priority. I recall in v4 I could set priority for live tuning vs recording tuning (or at least the interface explained which was which). these are two different HDHR (2 tuners each). 1st is the newer one with built-in dlna. 2nd is the older one that required the HDHR app/drivers. I remember both worked in npvr v4 on my windows box, but I think I saw you respond to somebody else about drivers/device compatibility with Macs. Is it possible that "Watch" is going for the older tuners first and that they are not compatible on Mac?

this is the HDHR for that IP address:
HDHomeRun DUAL
Model: HDHR3-US
Device ID: 103351A5
Firmware: 20170930

this is the newer one with the built-in transcoding/dlna:
Model: HDTC-2US
Device ID: 10544B0B
Firmware: 20190621

I have the newer ones set at the top of the priority list in settings.
So... could it be that recording is using the newer one and working
watching is using the older one (from the bottom of the list) and failing?

I'll try switching priority and see what happens.

If you open that url in VLC, does it play video?

Like v4, Recordings work their way down the device list, and Live TV works it's way up from the bottom of the device list. See Settings->Devices to see the order.

oh good grief. Well then, I am even more grateful to you and Martin for your time

Loved npvr on Windows and recently got rid of the box it was running in. When I saw Mac was available with the beta, it was a perfect opportunity to put an an old Macbook Pro to use again.

I'm not the most expert user, but happy to help try things for you if I can.
thanks again for all your time.
