Hi

I have used v4 of NextPVR before many times successfully.

In a new PC with NPVR never before installed I am trying v5.

I can view my HDHomeRun channels on VLC.

But with NPVR v5 while it sees the tuner, scans and finds my FTA channels, the EPG remains blank (which I could live with if I have to). But on the client when you click on a show the screen goes blank.

The Server CLI window shows some lines it has actually opened the channel but receives a Stop command. Is ths stored on a log file somewhere I can download and include here (copy and paste does not work)? I have attached a screen capture below.

I tried it on a failed Ubuntu installation some weeks ago and give up when I read I needed to buy an EPG service.

Is this also the same with the Windows version - ie. because the free-to-air EPG is no longer supported?

Thanks!

Cheers,
skris88

That map error is normal, I can't remember if he has fixed it or not the releases.

Best to upload the zipped logs from the main setting option in the web browser.

On Windows, if you use the BDA drivers with your HDHomeRun (ie "DVB-T" device type, rather than "HDHR" device type), you'll get the EPG.

Unfortunately their regular HDHR streaming interface doesn't carry the epg. I think I have discovered a way to add support for EPG with HDHR, but it's gonna a take a bit of work before I'm ready to include that. For now, using their BDA drivers is your best option.

Hi sub

Thanks for replying.

Please refer to the attachments I have included in my reply.

I do not have DVB-T or HDHR as options in my HDHR settings.  And whatever other setting I accept, NPVRv5 does not see any channels (and neither does VLC) unless I select Windows Media Centre.

When I select the Windows Media Centre setting, NPVRv5 does the channelss and looks like it is goin to work perfectly.  And VLC works too.

But when I click on any channel to view with the supplied NPVRv5 client, nothing happens.

Attached is the log, hope you can find something in it that explains what is happening.

Thanks!

Cheers,
skris88

Attached is the log too.

I think he meant not to use the HDHR type on the NextPVR devices screen.

I know here in Canada the NextPVR options the MediaPortal option in the Silicon Dust BDA driver selection gives the best results.

As Martin said above, I as meaning on the NextPVR Settings->Devices screen. (if you're still confused, please provide a screenshot of your Settings->Devices screen)

Okay, got it.  Thanks.

Before and After screen shots attached.

But the DVB-T device when scanned fails to find any channels.

It'll mean VLC will stop working of course, but should I now switch HDHR settings apps from 'Windows Media Player' to 'NextPVR'?

You might need to try scanning the 'all regions' region, in case the frequencies for your location aren't correct.

Just leave it on MediaPortal. Other settings may work too, but best to stay away from the NextPVR or WMC settings (which cause it to try optimizing the network utilization, but it sometimes causes problems...the 'mediaportal' setting doesn't try to do this)

Okay. I used the DVB-T devices and not the HDHomeRun devices available, and scanned (Australia All, as I am using a secondary transmitter).

I skipped the EPG scan now option on exit (so will have to wait overnight now to get the EPG updated?)

But viewing now in the web app.

Thanks for the guidance.

I will try this on Ubuntu next!
