Like I wrote you need a scheduled direct account or xmltv file.  Do you have one of those?  It needs those to scan

I have my own XMLTV file I created with a webscraper. I've previously used it as an EPG input for an old DVB-T card I had in NPVR, so I presume it is all still a valid file format...I re ran the scraper yesterday, so contents is now up to date...

Ok yes I forgot the Extras configuration is incomplete you are going to have to add the xmltv file manually to config.xml

<XmltvSources>filename_with_full_path</XmltvSources>

Ok, I now have my XMLTv file listed as a source, but I still cannot import any channels from it. I've created a slimmed down version of it and uploaded to pastebin...does all look in order? I havent changed this scraper script since I was last using it successfully...

Here is the nrecord log:

https://pastebin.com/SAAxpcrW

Here is the npvr log:

https://pastebin.com/SUE5bVNF

...I've now got as far as:

1) Using the IPTV device I mapped in a channel I am streaming via HTTP.
2) Got NPVR to recognise my XMLTV file, but it is not pulling any channels in.
3) IPTV Channel just produces a black screen.

I am also still unable to get my extra device to recognise my XMLTV file at all...

That log doesn't seem to show your attempt to import the channels.

Try again, then post the logs. Make sure you zip the logs using the 'Log Files' button on the Settings->About screen, otherwise the most recent log messages may not be flushed to disk.

Don't worry about NPVR until you get it setup. If want to use HTTP to vlc that is fine but don't complicate this discussion and you can deal with that separately.

Did you delete the Extras Device back after you created the bad one? I would delete it anyway and then scan and import the xmltv file selecting the channel your want and then see what the logs say.

Three points:

1) I didn't realise you could/should export logs this way. I simply grabbed them from the location on the hard drive. I will extract correctly now and re link.
2) I have long since successfully established a HTTP proxy stream via VLC, which I am using as we speak. However, you are correct, let's just focus on the extra device for now.
3) As far as I am aware I successfully deleted the extras device and reimported: control > delete > rescan...still no option to import my XMLTV, even after linking to it correctly in control.xml.
