NextPVR with Kodi on Fire TV Edition (Insignia)

I didn't see much on what I was trying to do, so I thought I would share some success.  Hopefully others can figure out why it worked.

I purchased an Insignia™ - 55” Class – LED - 2160p – Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR – Fire TV Edition (Model: NS-55DF710NA19).  This is the TV with Fire built in.

After side loading Kodi, I tried to add NextPVR as an addon for TV and got an error a few times installing the addon.  The manager would come on screen at 0% and everything seemed to stop. 

As an accident or whatever, I went back to the files section of Kodi and added my links to server content on the NextPVR (running on my PC).  After trying a couple other PVR Addons, I tried Next PVR addon again and it worked!  I couldn't be happier with the TV purchase now that the connection to my recorded content is happy again!

Might be an accident and might be a formula.  But, since I couldn't find anything to follow, thought I'd share.

Maybe you can help me out here. I can't find anywhere basic instructions (and I do mean basic) for installing whatever combination of products/software so I can watch TV with a PVR on my TV. 

I have Nvidia Shield TV (the new one that looks like a tube) which is essentially Android TV.
I have an HDHomeRun box.
I have a TV.
I have a PC.
I have Kodi installed on my Shield TV.
I can watch live TV on my TV (with the HDHomeRun app on Shield).

That's all good.

What I want to do now is introduce the NextPVR component which is where it all goes pear shaped.

Do I need to install NextPVR on my PC?
Is the addon (sounds obvious typing this) now installed on Kodi?

NextPVR is two components ...

First, a server service runs on a computer and connects to the HD Homerun (or other tuner) to receive and record broadcasts.

Second, an app needs to run on the device that you want to use to view Live TV and recordings.

You already have Kodi so you can use the NextPVR add-on in Kodi.

Here is how I have my home setup:
Shared server (Currently a Synology NAS though I started with a Windows XP server years ago)

• running MariaDB used by Kodi for a shared database
  
• Hosts NextPvr 5 in Docker to record shows from HDHomerun Tuners.  Also used for Live TV.
  
• Subscription to Schedules Direct.
  
• Video folder shared with Movies and TV subfolders.  In the root is a copy of sources.xml and advancedsettings.xml for Kodi installs
  

Various LibreElec, Google TV, Fire TV, Tablets and Laptops

• Each has Kodi installed either through the Play Store, Sideloaded, or just plain installed and then I copy over the settings from the share to ensure they are all hitting the same shared database and file shares.
  
• I then install the NextPvr plugin on each to support scheduling recordings and watching live TV
  

Supplemented with annual donations to Kodi, NextPVR, etc.
