Mysterious. I have basically the same setup except I have Colossus and I'm on Win10 1909. Just to be sure, you DID run Sub's latest installer? This appears to go into the folder C:\Program Files\NextPVR. Is it possible that you somehow have a problem there with some old stuff or something? Grabbing at straws a bit here.

Sorry, I missed a critical point here.  It's ONLY the desktop client that has this issue, and, yes, I have it too, so you are not alone.  Sub knows what this is and fixed it once.  It appears it somehow crept back into the release.  Sorry for the confusion.  I'm old and this was a while back.  Hopefully, Sub can resurrect whatever fix was put in before.

Thanks, SilverTiger. I did use your video upload to demonstrate the problem. And thanks for the decoder snapshot. Mine is a match except that I've specified all formats use the LAV decoder set. I am running NextPVR version 5.0.2.200322.

Now a new wrinkle...If I start live TV using the HDPVR2, then, after the picture starts tearing, I pause viewing(with the spacebar) for about 10 seconds, then hit the spacebar again to resume, after a few seconds, the picture and sound clear up and play perfectly! How 'bout that! The pause buffer appears to grow in that the amount being buffered goes from 10 seconds to around 30 seconds and then the picture finally freezes. I wonder if there is a 30-second problem.

Does that happen to you?

Ok, one of you guys will need to provide those extra log files, enabled from the registry, from SilverTiger original thread.

Sub,
I don't think this is correct anymore:
Create a c:\temp directory, and set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\NPVR\ LogDemuxFileOps=1 (DWORD)
Is this supposed to be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NPVR\ LogDemuxFileOps=1 (DWORD)
V5 is 64 bit correct?

HDPVR capture on v5 still uses 32bit directshow filters, so it's the same keys as they used to be.

I think I have what you requested, sub.

I'd like to add some further observations of timeline behavior: After resuming live TV, the picture was perfect but the timeline progressively showed more and more data being buffered since it slowly crept up from 10 seconds to about 30 seconds. This took about 7 minutes. At that point, the timeline dropped back to 14 seconds and the picture froze. BUT...

The HDPVR2 was still green and had not been stopped! In fact, a new recording file in the TV buffer folder continued to grow past the frozen frame. The original buffer was closed and played up to the freeze point perfectly.

Also, I used ctl-I after resuming live TV and it showed:
Type: MPEG-2
Video Codec: H.264
Resolution: 2048x1080 (60.00fps). I don't understand that one. It should be 1920x1080:

Logs attached include the "file.txt" file from c:\temp. (Yes, I removed that registry value.)

OK, looks like jcole998 took care of it. Let me know if I can help. I'm still not getting mail like I should when the forum is updated. I'll try and check it more often.

There was also LogFileWriter=1 setting needed, which would create c:\temp\file-writer-x-x.txt file
