Hi all,

due to being home more this last couple of weeks.... I've finally got to look at a few issues with video/recordings playback on nextpvr (4.2.4).

The main one is a delay of around 17-18 seconds for the video to display when i play a recording, audio starts very quickly.

This is on a client machine, however i have tried to play a local file with similar results.

In the log on the client machine it shows the same delay between "setaspectratio@3.6.1" and the next line , every time i play a video or recording.

I have attached a capture of this for simplicity, but can upload the logs if necessary .

cheers
james

It's likely related to your choice of decoders. Neither the 'Cyberlink Video Decoder' or 'ffdshow Audio Decoder' were common choices. I'd try some other decoders.

It looks like this is a .mpg file, rather than the .ts files NextPVR records.

If you play the .ts file that NextPVR recorded, does it start quicker?

If you a copy a file locally, instead of from the network drive, does it help?

Not really, i tried that a few days ago.

I just installed the latest LAV decoders and tried them instead -- as well as others i have, and they are all MUCH MUCH worse than what i'm using.

its quite frustrating!

Post the zipped log files after playing a local .ts file and I'll take a look.

You can also try unticking the 'use legacy MPEG demultiplexer and tsreader' to see if it makes a difference.

So I uninstalled any unnecessary decoders and swapped to different ones ,which made it much worse.
I then changed decoders back to what i was originally using ,and now when playing a local file its pretty much instant! Don't ask me why. It's also quicker playing a local file if I deselect "act as client pc" even when playing local, it also will not resume local files when I deselect "use legacy....." option in decoders

Playing recordings from the server is still slower(using ethernet cable, not wireless), but the audio takes about a second to start, the video about 5 seconds.

Before i go any further is this about normal or is there still some issue?
If so I'll zip the logs....
