If I run comskip during a recording, then I assume that I can remove it from the postprocessing batch file? Do you have an opinion on performance impact of running comskip during the recording?

No, I've never tried it myself.

Sub, Installed the new release on my laptop and things look really good. I reallly like the ability to run comskip/sa during recordings. I do have a questions on a feature listed in the changelog.

' Wrote:From the Changelog
- You can now plugin a different MVP transcoder by creating a Trans2MVP.bat file. First argument is the name of the file to be played. The second argument is the name of the temporary MPEG file.

Is this an effort to work around the frame/sync issues some of us have had with specific AVI files? Does this allow use of the Hauppauge transcoder. Would this make a difference? Does this allow for the temp mpg to be written to a different location, rather than the defalut?

If this is the case can you please provide the example of what the trans2mvp.bat should look like. If I wanted to use the Hauppauge transcoder and save the temp file to C:\temp. (Yeah I know I should be able to figure it out but I'm kind of clueless today).

If this is not the function of the trans2mvp.bat, can you explain what it can do?

Thanks for your time.

Not really. I was giving more options.

The hauppauge transcoder is not a command line utility, so doubt you could call it from trans2mvp.bat. I was really thinking of those users that wanted to use vlc or mencoder. I dont use these tools myself, so cant give you an example command line.

Another option you may want to investigate is the new support AviSynth .avs files. Effectively with AviSynth installed, you can create a .avs text file with a list of transformations to be carried out on an file. GB-PVR can then play this file on the MVP. The file typically has a source, then some transformations like resize video to 720x480, change the frame rate to 29.97 fps etc. Here is an example file:

Quote:AVISource("C:\MyVideos\divx\AD-Vodafone-Motorola_V980.avi")

# Resizes the image using the lanczos3 algorithm

LanczosResize(720,576)

# Now the image is 640x480
# Now crop 16 pixels off the entire image all the way around.

Crop(16, 16, -16, -16)

# Convert to greyscale

Greyscale()

Interesting. So in effect if you have AVISynth installled with a AVS file that could preform postprocessing changes I currently do with ffdshow, and alter the frame rate, and other paramaters that cant be changed with ffdshow. Correct?

Will GBPVR see the AVS file as the AVI file or does it pick up the AVS file when you try to play the associated AVI.

Obviously I have some reading to do at the AVISynth site.

Yes.

They seen as independent files. If you have an AVI file and AVS file in the same directory, you see them both listed. You'd only get AVS transformations if your played the AVS file.

As long as it is running at low priority, it shouldn't be a problem at all. It runs on previous shows while the next one is recording with no ill effects.

Yes, but remember not to do anything in your PostProcessing.bat file that relies on comskip having completed processing. It may still be in progress when PostProcessing.bat is run at the end of the recording.

Ok, this is where I was confused from something you said earlier (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=8621). I got the impression if you run comskip from the CP, it would ignore postpoc.bat altogether. I have rectracker in there, so I figured I just needed to keep postpoc as is.

So is the truth I can have the CP run SA, and postproc will still execute (doing the rectracker bit)?
