Everything was working perfectly now suddenly I can't login to the web app, it just keeps saying "login failed".  I tried changing the user/password in the config.xml with the same result.

Local network, or remotely across the internet?

Both.

Also my recording directory changed back to default.

Stop the NextPVR Service.

Edit the c:\users\public\NPVR-data\config.xml file, to set the following in the <WebServer> section:

<Username>admin</Username>
<Password>5f4dcc3b5aa765d61d8327deb882cf99</Password>

then restart the NextPVR Service

Any Idea what happened?

I can only guess you were trying the wrong password. If you had the logs with the failed login attempts, I might be able to work it out more definitively.

I've not seen any other reports, so I'm not thinking bug.

The logs that it gives you when you click the 'log files' button on the Settings->About page.

I have the same issue. I followed the instruction above (the data was already there) - stopped and restarted the service, but I still get "login failed."
And how do I get any log files from "settings" if I can't log in?
This issue came up yesterday while a recording was on, I was just trying to find out what was recording and it came up to login (I had not logged out before). The unit had been waking up and recording prior to this.
Tks
