I have been reading around the forums. some suggest the jb1 option, others use the hauppauge with no problem and some use the MCE remote.

my first question is, which has the most functionality/compatibility with gbpvr out of the box?

and has anyone tried the wireless keyboard/learning remote route? u have a wireless keyboard, get a learning remote and have the remote learn the codes from the keyboard? i heard of people doing this with mythtv. ( i used to use that, but it was too much config for me and i had problems - dont know linux that well)

i havent installed gbpvr yet, im still waiting for parts to come in. but from wat i hear, gbpvr works very well! cant wait!

thanks

I dont think a JP1 remote can actually talk to a computer unless you buy an extra IR receiver like a USB-UIRT.

i was thinking it just used the ir reciever that the keyboard used... the remote learns the keyboard signals and sends em to the reciever also instead of the keyboard

about this USB-UIRT... would it let me use my current remote to control GBPVR? its a sony one, not a learning remote, one where u have to enter the codes in manually. i use it now for my rca tv - well just for volume and to turn on the tv right now since im using gbpvr to watch tv and have to use the keyboard to change channels right now

In theory yes, but some people are having problems using the USB-UIRT with GB-PVR, so I dont know if I'd recommend it.

ok, thanks. one more: after some further research, i am leaning towards a harmony remote from logitech. probably the 676. How does this interface with the PVR? UIRT?
