Hi- I in the process of getting an NextPVR / Kodi set up running on a Windows10 pc to replace my very old WMC  system.

I had something that seemed to be close to fully functional using 5.0.4, , but then thought I would upgrade to NPVR 5.0.5 and since then live TV will work for about 2 minutes and then freeze.  Presumably a buffering problem.  Can anyone advise me what to do?

Not a buffering issue your PC isn't up to transcoding for the web browser.

2020-06-12 15:54:24.129 [DEBUG][24] [FFMPEG]: frame= 625 fps= 13 q=23.0 size=N/A time=00:00:25.00 bitrate=N/A speed=0.519x

It should be fine with Kodi which won't require transcoding. If you must use the browser you might be able to enable h/w transcoding.

You are also getting the database is locked error that sub really needs to look into, not sure if your PC is slow or if this error is leading to the slow transcoding.

Have you tried the NextPVR Player ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/player-settings

Hi- many thanks, I will look more closely at the PC, although it shows almost identical behaviour when live TV is viewed through Kodi.

It is a far from new motherboard, probably starting life with Vista, but it has 4 cores in a Q6600 2.4G processor and 4 GB RAM installed, although I see that it is saying only 2.75GB is usable.

Hi- I installed an MPEG2 decoder and now the NextPVR player client works, but also stalls after a minute or so and comes up with an error message saying the tuner being used it needed for a recording - which it isn't.

I suggested Kodi because that was what you originally stated. How does that work? Sounds like you run 32bit OS based on the memory comment. I have a CPU from that era and it is a great NextPVR serve but a crappy h264 encoder.

I wish you had uploaded the new logs because it may be a database lock issue. Personally I'd wait for the next release and for sub to check the logs.

This is the log after a crash event using the NextPVR player.

I definitely intend to use Kodi as the front end- but thought I would try the NextPVR client as an experiment to see if it behaved differently.

My server is an even weaker system (Core2Duo!) than yours, yet it does a great job of running NextPVR. However, I use a very low-end Nvidia video card to provide an HDMI output to the TV. I'm using the LAV decoder, with the video decoding properties in LAV set to use Nvidia CUVID for hardware acceleration. This offloads decoding to the video card so that the CPU can attend to other tasks.

Thanks for the logs, I still a speed issue

2020-06-13 11:20:42.481 [DEBUG][18] [FFMPEG]: frame= 1207 fps= 17 q=21.0 size=N/A time=00:00:49.24 bitrate=N/A speed=0.707x

But I think the real problem is NextPVR running multiple EPG update

You get the picture, NextPVR is settting the time for earlier in the day so it loops. I think there was a patch for this but I'd wait for the next release.

That fits perfectly with my observation of the symptoms.

Is it a known bug? or have I messed up the installation?
