I've just uploaded http://www.gbpvr.com/GBPVR09412.msi

As with all releases, I recommend you do a backup before installing this release.

Changes include:
Quote:2005-09-17 v0.94.12
- Fixed up bug that could cause problems when updating the channel list in the config app. This was pretty serious, and prompted this specific release.

- Fixed a minor bug with jumping directly to the next channel off the the bottom of the TV Guide.

- Fixed a bug where file duration was not updated when playing back in-progress recordings on the MVP.

- Fixed a bug with playback of MPEG-1 files.

- Live preview mode should now work on the Hauppauge clone cards based on the Conexant reference designs. for example AverMedia M150 etc

- Fixed a bug that was causing the InterVideo Audio decoder to not be used.

- Fixed a bug that could cause a crash if teletext was enabled on a machine without the Microsoft WST codec installed.

- Fixed a bug that could cause the first recording of a season recording to be skipped for zap2it users with 'no duplicates' enabled.

- Fixed a bug that could cause zap2it to return their default 4 days of data because they couldnt understand the date range parameters passed by GB-PVR.

- GBConvert.exe now ensures the machine will not hibernate during file transcoding.

- Fixed a couple of transcoding bugs

Just installed 94.12 over my previous 94.8. This solved my problem with the sytem crashing when attempting to update the capture source channels.

However, the problem I have with the video becoming choppy and the audio stopping when using the web interface is still there. The only way to get the audio back is to exit LiveTV and reenter it. As noted previously this did not occur in 93.10 and only began with the 94.8 release.

Easy solution, dont use the web interface. :p

I do remember you've had problems in the past when running the web interface.

My mystery black bar at the bottom of my display on GBPVR has been resolved with this release.

However, I know seem to be having a lot of difficulty connection via the MVP....reminds me of the early days of MVP when there were a lot of intermitent connection problems.

I must admit that over the last few versions (incl betas) I have more than a few MPV disconnects after pressing channel change in LiveTV than with the earlier 93.10 versions (I think my prob is similar to groover_km's) . I need to do a bit more testing, then will try and look at/post logs.

Here are the things I have going (wr)on(g).

1. The EPG/Zapit almost always GPFs when its done. The stuff is all there, no corruption in the schedule, but it always bugs out with a prompt to debug. I don't. I've previously seen the tray thing (different machine here so can't name it) use 100 MB (1 GB machine, jigs and jigs of VM), and then crash. I've seen the recording service use 60 and more MB, and it too crash. The EPG/Zapit crash still happens (I say almost always, but I think it is always); the others I can't say if they still do that with yesterday's version (it doesn't happen that often). When it does crash, it's, as weird as it may sound, no big deal because it's not really doing anything important when it does crash.

2. My Sapphire tuner (550 chip as I recall) sometimes will generate garbled video. Once, it generated good video, but garbled audio. I've been working around the video problem by starting a record session 1 minute before the real session, same channel. This has never caused a bad recording. It may be a driver problem. The weird thing is it only ever seems to happen when the recording takes place in the early morning (3am, 5am). Like I said, that may be a driver problem, or even hardware, but thought I put it in writing anyway. I can spot when this happens by the bitrate -- a 5 Mbps will churn out 8 Mbps when a garbled video is recorded. The audio mess up only happened once in maybe 100 recordings. The video maybe 10 times in that many, and most of those are (TCM) early, early morning.

And one more. The EPG update message box doesn't minimize, and can't be moved. It's always on top, too. Once, not too long ago, I got it to minimize using the taskbar button menu for it, but I think it was almost done with updating so that may have just been a lucky shot. It crashed, too. I can say that because it (almost?) always does. I suppose I could delete the channels and try again, but should it crash in the first place?

A few correction since I can't see how to edit.

1. .... I've seen the recording service use 60 and more MB, and it too crash. The

I can't say for sure the recording service crashed. I have seen it use a lot of memory, more than usual (and usual is more than usual, you'd think) It's possible it crashed. I get a lot of crashes when using gbpvr. Probably the only thing I do use that crashes. Fortunately, it's not got any critical or even important things to do.

2. ... I've been working around the video problem by starting a record session 1 minute before the real session, same channel.

By that I mean, I do a 1-minute manual recording before the desired recording is to start. I've never found two back-to-back recording garbled, only the very first. So, I figure, doing one first to throw away takes care of the problem. At least it's a solution. And it seems to work, though I don't always remember to do that manual recording.

Woo Hoo! This is awesome and works great, however there remains a related problem. While watching the in-progress recording, skipping fwd & back works fine. But if you attempt to skip fwd to (or potentially past) the current end of the file (in other words, catch up to real time) it crashes the MVP server. Just the GBPVR.exe process terminates and immediately restarts, nothing else seems to be affected. Here's the last few seconds worth of the log file, let me know if you need anything else.
