These are GREAT tuners and work fine.
If you are dropping support for a device like this, you should really post that!! in BIG LETTERS someplace.
It would be even better if the installed checked and gave you a message about incompatible hardware.

I had put off 'upgrading' to version 5 until it said it was ready for everyone.
Imagine how unhappy when I upgraded, lost all of my settings and schedules and lost support for  my tuners.
THIS WAS NOT AN UPGRADE for me.

Will there continue to be development on the 4.x versions?  I use a kodi front end, and everything works good - but I am worried if I am going to have to find a different back end solution if you have dropped support for the Ceton devices or until there is a set of instructions that I could follow to install it.

Thankfully, I had a backup and could restore the old version and my schedules.
Why does 5 not at least upgrade the schedules, even if there is not support for my tuner?

- I have no environment I can use for testing Ceton stuff any more,
- these devices were always a pain to work with, and very different to other tuners
- these devices haven't been sold for a few years,
- there isn't many people still using them. (so hard to justify the massive effort to support them directly)

I've listed above very clearly why I no longer support these tuners. I'm not saying these tuners are crap, just that they're hard to work with from a developers perspective, and I no longer a way to do anything with a Ceton device myself.

v5 is pretty much a new application. If I'd had easy access to be able to develop and test support for Ceton devices in the new application, I would have.

In the install information for each platform, I list the types of tuners supported on that platform:
Quote:Installing on Windows
On Windows NextPVR supports IPTV, HDHomeRun, digital tuners (DVB-T, DVB-C, DVB-S, ATSC and QAM), SAT>IP tuner (DVB-S, DVB-C, DVB-T) and HDPVR style devices (HDPVR, HDPVR2, Colossus, Colossus2, Rocket)

No - it's pretty much the end of the road for v4. I'll try to provide some minimal support for users of v4 for a while longer, but I wont be doing any more development for it.

HOWEVER, the Ceton proxy sounds quite straight forward to use, and just makes the Ceton device look like an HDHR. This sounds like the best way forward for you. You will need to set the device up again from scratch (since it's a logically a different device type to before), but after that you should be fine to use it in NextPVR v5.

I was able to get Ceton Proxy to work perfectly with either Next PVR v5 or Emby.  The only real challenge is it seems I need to hit "request channels" in the proxy for it to work properly every time I start the proxy. I have my entertainment server on an auto start and shutdown, I don't suppose there is any way for the proxy to save the channels so when it restarts I don't need to do this?  If I don't do this step the streams fail.

In the NextPVR PreStartup script would

curl http://<IP of PC running cetonproxy>:5004/lineup.xml -o NUL

do what you want?

Would this simulate on the ceton proxy application the process of expanding the "channels" tab and hitting "request channels"?  Once the app shows all the channels all is good. Before this is done that tab is blank.

I really have no idea it was just a thought that I would try in your situation. It shouldn't hurt.

I had the ceton proxy working just fine, and all of a sudden it just stopped..

Can you tell why?

Your database was corrupt before the first update. If you have a backup you will need to use that. If you want to send a line on external storage ie OneDrive, Google Drive, DropBox etc I can have a look.
