I wouldn't like to say for sure as I generally delete the failed recordings in NPVR once they happen.

I've looked in the live TV directory though and there's no live TV file for this error from nrecord.log.2:

2020-08-08 09:58:09.629 [DEBUG][30] http://localhost:60414/stream/start?slip...2080s-1.ts

Thanks.

You might need to try stopping the NextPVR Service, and instead manually run NextPVRServer.exe, and see if there is any error messages appearing in the window when you attempt to use the device.

I did find one place around this log, where an error wouldn't be reported. Replace DeviceHostWindows.exe with this version, then try again and repost the logs. Hopefully it'll now give us the error message we need.

Great, thanks, will do it tomorrow morning so I don't annoy the missus by interupting her viewing tonight.

New DeviceHostWindows.exe file in place, service stopped and disabled, NextPVRServer.exe now running from command prompt.

I'll post back once I have a problem again.

Thanks.

I've had another failure this morning, looks like both live TV and recordings though the error message is different this time.

I've attached the logs, errors seem to start in nrecord.log with this for live TV:

2020-08-18 06:55:44.542 [ERROR][75] Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I then tried recording a channel, the TV show "Live Falling Auctions", though that failed and the web GUI shows:

[Failed: No errors, but no data delivered. This is usually because the device failed to lock a signal.]

I also tried recording "Abby Hatcher", which hasn't any obvious errors but ended up with a zero bytes file.

I tried streaming from my HDHomerun using ffplay.exe, which worked fine.

Thanks in advance.

This is a driver issue on two tuners leading to failures

2020-08-18 06:55:44.271 [DEBUG][8] Unexpected error on DVB-T put_TunerRequest: 0x8000FFFF
2020-08-18 06:55:44.271 [DEBUG][8] DigitalRecorderDVBT::Tune@post
2020-08-18 06:55:44.532 [DEBUG][8] Calling LockChannel()
2020-08-18 06:55:44.532 [DEBUG][8] locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=0 (took 0ms to check)

and on another tuner both recordings failed with the same issue

Live Falling Auctions

2020-08-18 06:59:35.641 [DEBUG][6] Unexpected error on DVB-T put_TunerRequest: 0x8000FFFF
2020-08-18 06:59:35.641 [DEBUG][6] DigitalRecorderDVBT::Tune@post
2020-08-18 06:59:35.901 [DEBUG][6] Calling LockChannel()
2020-08-18 06:59:35.901 [DEBUG][6] locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=0 (took 0ms to check)

followed by Abby Hatcher

2020-08-18 07:04:58.935 [DEBUG][6] Unexpected error on DVB-T put_TunerRequest: 0x8000FFFF
2020-08-18 07:04:58.935 [DEBUG][6] DigitalRecorderDVBT::Tune@post
2020-08-18 07:04:59.238 [DEBUG][6] Calling LockChannel()
2020-08-18 07:04:59.238 [DEBUG][6] locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=0 (took 0ms to check)

Do the HDHR logs show anything on the HDHR config page in the browser

This appears to be BDA mode and I expect ffplay would use HDHR mode so not a fair comparison =

Thanks Martin. Unfortunately the HDHomerun was powered down due to some work I'm having done on the house so the logs are gone.

However, I've fired up Kodi and live TV is working again, which is interesting as the server running NextPVR wasn't impacted by the powering down.

I don't know what that return code means, maybe it was just powered off for those 10 minutes. It could also be network or something in the server that the was fixed by the reboot but certainly seems to be something out of NextPVR's control.

It was powered off about 4-5 hours after the failures.
