Changing channels while viewing?

I don't watch Live TV often, but the last couple of days I've been trying to keep up with the hype around Hurricane Laura, switching between channels often.  In V4 I could just press the channel-up or channel-down button on my remote and the channel would change.  In V5 I'm getting no response to channel change requests after starting to watch a channel from the guide.  In Live TV I found that I can press the up or down arrow and a channel list pops up, then I can change the channel using the list.  Did the channel change button support go away in V5, or is there some setting that I need to change?

I'll check these. I usually use the up/down keys and select from the mini-guide, so might not have noticed.

Thanks sub, I figured that it was probably one of those things that doesn't get used often. If I'm going to watch live TV, I usually select a current show from the guide and then select "Watch". Then I could just channel-up/channel-down from there, as most of the news channels are adjacent to each other. But I watch most things after they have aired, so I hadn't even noticed.

What type of remote are you using? I just tried it here, and the +/- buttons did change channels.

I'm using a Harmony 650, along with an HP MCE IR receiver (Device manager reports it as a Microsoft eHome device, with drivers from 2006). However, I just tried to use the + and - keys on my Logitech wireless keyboard and get no response from that either, so I think something else may be going on. Is there a setting somewhere for this function? It was all working fine on V4. Also of note, I'm pretty sure that I'm using the config.xml from V4, as it had a LOT of customization over the years. Would that make a difference? Perhaps a V5 setting is missing?

Have you got a regular keyboard where you can try the +/- buttons on the numeric keyboard?

There shouldn't be any settings anywhere to enable this.

OK, I think that you're on to something.   I just VNC'd into the server from a PC that has a full keyboard.  The +/- buttons from the number pad change the channel.  The ones from the top row of the keyboard do not.  I'm guessing that they send different codes to the system, even though they appear the same to us silly humans?

Hi Martin, no, I've never had to touch KeyMappings.xml in the past.  My remote always just worked.  I did copy the config.xml from v4 to v5, as was suggested in at least one other thread on here as the easiest way to move over all of the custom changes that I had made over the years.

When you talked about customization I thought you might have meant keyboard/remote customization and possible saved this in user-data or not known that KeyMappings.xml gets overwritten with each update. Perhaps compare your v4 KeyMappings just in case.
