Hi Graham. You wrote ...dragons....? is this a typo or tech term I have not learned?
1) So having an unused tuner on say a dual tuner device will not allow smooth watching or recording on tuner 1 while tuner 2 is being used to update the epg? Or it does not work that way?
2) The tuner you said the log file showed as failing is one that was removed from this computer years ago. At the time I tried to delete it from the device list but could not for some reason. I tried again today and it got deleted right away. So I reran the update epg and got the same resuilts... no epg on 2.1, 2,2, 2.3, 2,4. Channel 42 is marginal signal so I dont expect it to show anything. Here is the new log file with the tuner removed.
In all the years since atsc was introduced I have never found myself dissatisfied with OTA epg. Being an old guy I grew up with no epg unless you picked up the newspaper and looked at the tv listings. So I have no issue with what OTA EPG delivers. Low motivation to look for more.
with atsc PBS epg is the best, american networks are pretty good and the canadian ones are hit and miss but as its free they get a lot of latitude Of course a paid epg solution enhances satisfaction somewhat.
