Evening folks,
I've just managed to install NextPVR on a QNAP NAS using Docker (difficult when you are a noob!). I've got the HDHR communicating with NextPVR, I can watch and record channels to folders on the NAS - great! What I can't do is a proper scan of channels for my location and download an EPG using the HDHR.
I've migrated from a Win10 setup where NextPVR uses the HDHR as a DVB-T tuner, so I am able to input my location/local TV mast, scan for channels in my location only and download the EPG. This is important because I'm on the boarder between England and Wales, I only want to see the English channels which HDHR is unable to do, it just sees everything, and of cause can't down an EPG.
I've found a thread from 2019 were Sub explains the issue with the HDHR - is this still relevant for docker and Linux or is there a current work around?
I've asked SiliconDust if it's possible to restrict the channel scanning frequencies, however after 3 weeks I haven't received a reply and probably now don't expect to...
The Win10 PC has issues so really needs retiring, so just continuing to use that isn't really an option. Any other suggestions? I could run a Win10 VM on the NAS and install NextPVR on there, however wonder if this will be very resource hungry. Linux would perhaps be better (even though I've never used it!), but only if it can see the HDHR as a DVB-T tuner.
Shame I didn't realise this before investing in a HDHR and an expensive NAS! Oh well...
Ta very much!
