GPU 3D 100% Task Manager

I'm totally new to NextPTR as of today.  It's using 100% of the NVidia 1080 GPU, most of it 3D.  Is this normal?  If not, how should I troubleshoot this please?  I did try to search the web and this forum and had no success.
The CPU use surprises me, too.  I'm using a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1265.  The CPU is an Intel I9-11900.  Temperatures are all in the expected range.  The OTA video is working.  I have run the EPG setup.  And, I'm now recording a news broadcast.  This is the version from the official website and not the Windows store.  Thanks in advance for your help.  :-)

I think sub is mining BitCoin to help pay his expenses. Seriously, playing from the web browser that usage could be happening . Many people use direct play clients that have almost no impact on CPU or GPU, NextPVR.exe comes with the Windows version, there is a Kodi client that plays on many clients, and there are also dedicated clients for Android, Apple and Roku devices.

LOL!! I had the BitCoin mining thought, too. Although, my guess was a hacked version of NextPVR that had spoofed its way on to my system. ;-)

The good news is at idle there is no noticeable CPU or GPU use. Yay! The interesting news was that the Windows MPEG-2 decoder (Microsoft DTR-DVD Video Decoder) *caused* (now fixed) interesting behavior. On playback the audio worked briefly, and there was no video. The NextPVR Client popup menu 'froze'; although, ESC closed it. The first solution was to use a Hauppauge supplied (I assume) Nablet MPEG-2 decoder. The second solution was to pay $14.95 :-( for the Windows DVD (LOL!!) player. That got the Microsoft decoder to work.

This is all new to me. I'm extremely irritated with TiVo now, and am looking for other options. I going to look into Kodi. NextPVR looks like the best PVR option for Kodi. If that all works well OTA, I'll look into a CableCARD tuner to work with XFinity. My wife has cable channels that *must* work; although, streaming them is an option, too. But, being able to record cable shows is highly desirable.

Any insights or suggestions of course would be welcomed.

Kodi installed easily, and works great with NextPVR. Yay! The combination uses almost no CPU or GPU when recording, which is great.

Yep, totally not normal. What was it doing at the time of the screenshot? (like viewing menus, or live tv, or a recording, or something else)

The LAVFilters-0.74.1 free codec pack includes a MPEG-2 software decoder that works great.  I've been using it with NextPVR for years.  Just find it, install it and it will be one of the choices on the Decoders setup page in the NextPVR client.  I choose the LAV decoder for all the audio and video codecs.

Thanks for the LAVFilters recommendation.  I did see them mentioned when I was researching the odd playback issue, which was the Microsoft driver's lack of DVD/MPEG-2 support.

Thanks for your reply.  I was recording a local OTA news broadcast.  I just tried it again, and had the same result.

Recording the same show was much better using Kodi.  I have included a screenshot.  I am uncertain what to do next.   Note:  the CPU and GPU use is quite low with the Hauppauge WinTV v10 app.
