Your Kodi GPU number seems high too. Are you sure that it isn't using the Rocket Lake Intel GPU, from what I've read Kodi doesn't fully support it yet.

These look like reasonable numbers to me. The second screenshot is while watching and recording at the same time. The CPU use remains quite low. The GPU has increased, but is still far less than 100%. So, I definitely have a mystery on my hands here.

I'm testing again. The screenshots are Kodi playing a real-time OTA broadcast with no recording. As you will see, the Task Manager says it's the 1080. The prior screenshots do, too.

On a power house like yours what happens if you turn on h/w decoding? Also have you tried the integrated graphics? My Intel is Gen8 and on Windows Kodi only has 15%GPU with 1080i OTA.

Thanks for your reply.
Do you mean "Allow hardware acceleration - DXVA2"? That was enabled by default.

I guess you can try the various options for h/w acceleration also for deinterlacing if you are that keen on trying to reduce it.

That's the only option I could find? Testing the Intel graphics is a royal pain on my system. The GIGABYTE Z590 AORUS PRO AX motherboard's BIOS appears to require me to pull the NVIDIA card to get the internal graphics output to work. If I plug the video cable into the motherboard port, I end up seeing nothing. :-( Note: I switch ports after powering off. I have even tried turned the power off completely just in case. Sigh.

You can try disabling DXVA2 and the h/w deinterlacing options are hidden in the video settings while playing video in Kodi.

I was stunned at how easy the entire installation process was. It's working beautifully with my Synology NAS. And, recording and playback on the PC, Android phone, and Amazon Fire TV 4K, using their app, works great. This is indeed a home run product. I'm extremely impressed so far. So, great suggestion! |
