I just set up an test using an OTA scan and while I could not duplicate the error I got something similar so there must be issues related to an OTA scan followed by a recording on linux.

Other notes, Live TV fails silently. After I killed pid 38807 recordings and live TV worked.

Perhaps it is better to kill the server after the OTA scan so recordings and live tv start cleanly.

I duplicated this scenario on an RPi with a different tuner so it is not driver related.

Does that mean that it should work if I run a manual scan and then restart the server/service?
The next Joanna Lumley one is on tonight in about an hour. I'll try doing that and see how it goes.

I suspect if you kill the DeviceHostLinux task after updating the EPG it might work.

I restarted the service on the server after doing the EPG update manually. That does not appear to have worked Sad

There is a rerun tomorrow at 2:30pm if I didn't do the right thing so I can try again.

Can't put my finger on it, but it seems to have something to do with some similarity between program names found in the EPG data. I have two such instances of recurring programs:

- I have a recurring program I grab once a week. Sometimes it's titled "Ed Sullivan Show" and sometimes "The Ed Sullivan Show". I set up 2 recurring schedule items to grab them all, but "The Ed Sullivan Show" always fails with this error, the other one always works. I now use a manual recording to successfully grab the failing one.

- I had a recurring item to get "The Carol Burnett Show" which always failed with this error, so now I do that one with a manual entry. Different episodes air on another channel under the name "Carol Burnett Show" which I do not attempt to record, but they are there in the EPG.

So maybe: some confusion occurs at record time if another program with a similar (but not identical) name is present in the EPG? Even if I am not attempting to record that other program? The rules of similarity are as yet unclear.

Another possibility: bad data coming from Schedules Direct? Although I have examined the database records and nothing stood out.
