How to setup Multidec with HDHomeRun HDHR4-2DT

Hello NextPVR Forum, I've got a HDHomeRun twin tuner with most recent firmware that I use with NVPR 4.2.4 on a Windows 10 PC.
It's running fairly sweet, but it currently uses both tuners to record/play channels from the same frequency.  When I look at the Tuner status NPVR does not have a Virtual Channel or Program number and the data rate is 22 or so Mbps.  When I watch a channel with VLC the numbers are set and the data rate is 2-4Mbps.  I figure that NPVR is pulling through the whole stream with all the channels in there.

I've been looking in the forum and googling around and I think I need to install BDA drivers and then setup Multidec in my NPVR Device settings.
I have some BDA drivers that came with an old PCI Tuner card, but they are WinXP vintage and I'm not sure how drivers for a PCI card would help me with an Ethernet based Tuner.
I've found DVB Dream and they appear to have BDA drivers in their package, but I'm not sure how I can extract the drivers without having to install their whole package.

The NPVR manual pages are dated 2011 and make no mention of BDA drivers and I'm not confident to "make it up as I go along" so I was wondering if someone could point me to a set of instructions and direct me towards a set of BDA drivers that will allow me make the Multidec work.

On a side issue, I've stayed with V4.2.4 because "it Ain't Broke" and its been a reliable tool for a couple of years. Is it worth moving up to V5? Is it stable? Is there a seamless (or relatively trouble free) upgrade path?

"multidec" is something else. It's relating to decrypting pay TV using soft cams or smart cards. Disable multidec if you've enabled it - it could cause you issues.

"multirec" is what you're referring to. Basically you only get this with a HDHomeRun if you're using the BDA drivers. ie, in the Settings->Devices screen, your channels should be setup against a device of type "ATSC", "QAM", "DVB-T", "DVB-S or "DVB-C". If you're channels are setup against a device of type "HDHR", then you won't get multirec. If you've only got the "HDHR" style devices listed for your HDHomeRun, then you only haven't got the full SiliconDust software installed

Is it worth moving up to V5? Is it stable?

Yes, it's stable. It's a much better application than v4. It also has the benefit of still being actively supported and updated.

Is there a seamless (or relatively trouble free) upgrade path?

v5 is entirely new Application, so doesn't provide an inplace upgrade. it uses different directories etc. If you want to retain your existing settings though, you can backup your NPVR.db3 and config.xml to use with v5.

To upgrade basically:
1) backup config.xml and NPVR.db3
2) uninstall v4
3) download and run https://nextpvr.com/NPVRSetup.exe.
4) (OPTIONAL, to keep v4 settings) stop NextPVR service and overwrite config.xml and NPVR.db3 in c:\users\public\NPVR-data, then restart the service.

BDA is a Windows component and the BDA drivers for it are installed with the SilionDust software not NextPVR. The BDA requirements were the same as V4.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I've gone in and changed the Device settings - Common Interface from Multidec to None (I was using the Common Interface H/W setting because I thought that the HDHR4 talks to NPVR as it has a setting where you can select NPVR).  Now it appears that multiREC is working - which is very grouse  
I've attached a screengrab of the HDHR settings, and a happy ending grab of the NPVR status.

Thanks - Methinks the time has come to bite the bullet and move up to V5.  I had trouble letting go of XP years back but I got there in the end
