Even though Beyond TV is no longer developed, snapstream still lets users of Beyond TV use their free EPG. So as for free EPG, I am spoiled.

Any suggestions on a EPG for NextPVR (OTA in the US)?

And has anyone out in the world wide web created or know of a utility/add-on that can use the snap-stream EPG with NextPVR?

In other parts of the world the OTA EPG is a good option, and will often give you a week or so of listings. Unfortunately the OTA EPG in North America is pretty worthless, usually only giving a minimal 6 hours.

The best option in North America is getting a Schedules Direct subscription.

Any suggestion for a scheduled direct subscription? The free one I am used to gives about 11 days.

As explained on the Schedules Direct page https://www.schedulesdirect.org/faq you can get up to 20 days, but my experience is that is too long.

You paid for BTV so the data isn't really "free".

True that, I did pay for BTV, but not bad for a one time fee back in 2006 for $69 (it also included a remote control).

Yep, that was a bargain for how long the guide data lasted. I think you got lucky that when they abandoned BTV, their new business ventures still required EPG listings, so they continued to license the data, so it costs them nothing to still supply it to the very small number of BTV that are still around. Other apps lost their guide data within a few years (or even less).

Other parts of the world fare better, with up to a week of free listings being broadcast with the channels. Unfortunately that isn't the case in North America. Schedules Direct is your best source of guide data in that part of the world, and they're charging what they have to, to keep their listing service alive.

Thanks.

I am now testing NextPVR v5 in a VMware workstation VM on Windows 11 since it will be hear soon. I will keep BTV running on my Win10 20H2 since I cent get my BTV to see the HDHomeRun tuners on Win11.

I am just trying to work out why NextPVR is not picking up any channels when scanning in my Win11 VM.

Post the logs and we’ll see if anything stands out.

Found out that you have to use the HDHomeRun setup first and on the digital antenna tab, scan channels. BTV used its own channel mappings from snap-stream (and never used the channels from HDHomeRun/antenna).

You can kind of do it either way. If you’re using HDHR source type, then it gets the channels from the HDHomeRun. If you’re using the ATSC source type, then it scans each frequency looking for channels. If you don’t have the SiliconDust drivers installed, then you’ll only see the HDHR source type.
