Add Colossus as a Single Channel source

Howdy,

Wondering if it is possible to map a Colossus as a single channel source?

I'd like to be able to tune (and record) whatever is plugged into the Colossus within the NextPVR UI.

Currently I have a four tuner PCI-E Hauppauge for OTA and the Colossus (v1) in the system. Was thinking of using it to view / record say the Xbox and other HDMI output sources.

When I look at the Devices tab it is asking for an xml file. Could a static file be created for NextPVR to read for that device? If so, what is the minimum info needed in the xml file?

I know I could (and do) use the Capture app from Hauppauge but it sure would be nice to have the 10 foot experience with NextPVR for this...

Honestly, I don't NextPVR is well suited to what you're describing. Hauppauge Capture sounds like it's probably more appropriate. ie, NextPVR's recording functions are more about TV shows with fixed times etc. If you just want to a button to start recording and stop recording, Hauppauge Capture would be much better at that sort of job.

If you absolutely want to do it, you'd probably have to import a channel lineup from either xmltv or schedules direct, then delete all the channels but one, and then you can rename the channel to whatever you want (like 'HDMI' or similar)

A one channel XMLTV file with no listing should do that and just ignore the blaster and turn of EPG updates for the channel for good measure.

For the 10' experience I used to use knewc in Kodi to control the IR to my STB via lircd and then get the addon create a manual recording. The demo here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B98P_XJ4LqM shows how tedious that is.

That 5 second lag of knowing where your is such a nuisance so now I just watch On Demand via Android.

Wanted to report back. I followed the guidance and added the Colossus as an HDMI channel using a dummy xml file. Works great and I think it's easier than using the Capture app.
