No "Live TV" on ATV4K

Strange symptom. When I choose a channel to watch, there is a brief bit of activity where it looks like something is starting to be presented on the screen, starting from the bottom of the screen and moving up.

And then just about right away, it stops. And there is no live TV picture appearing.

In contrast, if I play a recording, it works fine.

I am guessing that a tuner (from Flex-4K) needed to be accessed in order to satisfy the live TV request, but that something prevented that tuner from being allocated and assigned for use by the NextPVR app running on the ATV4K. Potentially it could be a BitDefender Firewall problem, and that perhaps some exception rule is needed for some special port number? Just speculating.

But there is no problem getting live TV when running NextPVR client on the NVidia Shield Tube. So this would suggest it's the ATV4K app and not BitDefender Firewall.

Anyway, it doesn't work.

I am aware of three "other" clients which can access NextPVR (sub's client Kodi pvr.nextpvr and Kodi knewc) but assuming you mean sub's client you should have posted here https://forums.nextpvr.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=14 It isn't clear that that forum is for the Apple TV as well

Rather the speculating, provide your zipped logs and we can help you. I don't know how many times we have asked you that.

Sorry for the mispost in the wrong forum. My fault. The iOS forum is under "Public", and I had been looking in "Support". And "Support" only has a sub-forum for macOS where I saw no threads for ATV4K. So I assumed that was not the right place for my current topic. Hence why "Other Clients" under "Support". All a bit complex.

Anyway I now see that "Public" is the right high-level starting point. I will re-post in the Public\iOS Client thread where this subject for ATV4K belongs (and I see other threads about ATV4K there).

And I will post the logs there.

But regarding the other clients you mention that can access NextPVR, I am in fact successfully using Kodi on Win10 with pvr.nextpvr add-on. And it works perfectly for both live TV as well as recordings. There is also a Kodi app for Shield, and that too works for both live TV and recordings. There is no Kodi app for ATV4K to test.

My topic is specifically with the official NextPVR client installed on ATV4K (getting it installed from the "search" interface on ATV4K). It installs, runs properly for playing recordings (which doesn't need a tuner), but has this issue when trying to play live TV (which needs a tuner). That's the specific glitch I'm asking about here.

Anyway, again, I will carry on in the other correct sub-forum.

I've renamed the the forum to "NextPVR iOS and AppleTV Clients" to avoid the confusion in the future.

It does work fine for live TV here with my ATV4k, but post the logs and we'll see if anything stands out.
