Hi sub

logs attached.

I have just scanned Oxfordshire followed by 746000 the frequency of the missing channels.

Thanks

Maurice

There are some errors getting the EPG so sub will likely need some full ts scan on the some channels I will let him advise since that is time sensitive.

As for the issue it doesn't look like you scanned today when the station was "live" but yesterday's log did for 20 seconds which indicates that it is signal related. That assumes - 746000,0,0,8 is the right setting.

Definitely do it while that station is on air.

Have you tried scanning "United Kingdom / All Regions"? It takes longer, but should help us see if those channels are being picked up on some other frequency. The UK scan files are pretty good, but there could totally be a mistake in your local file (given all the frequencies changes that have happened in the UK in recent years)

I added an aerial amplifier but it did not help.

All the channels on the 746.000  T2  mux are missing.

SD channels  64,70,76,86,87,89,96 and HD channels 107 BBC News,111 QVD,112 QVD,113 RT HD,11 Quest HD plus 106 BBC4 which is off the air until 7PM.

Log files attached.

Regards

Maurice

You could try tweaking the ini files to scan two additional frequencies to see if it makes a difference:

745834
746166

These are the +/-166Khz frequencies that are often used in the UK. Usually a tuner would take care off these automatically, but there are some tuners that don't.

If this still doesn't get them, then maybe the signal is just not good enough for the tuner to lock on to.

The COM7 and COM8 muxes were temporary low power DVB-T2 muxes each on a single frequency network. They were setup using spare equipment at the main transmitter sites to persuade people to invest in T2 compatible equipment. COM8 frequency shut down last year and the frequency was handed over to the mobile phone companies and COM7 on 746 Mhz was due to be shut down this summer. Hopefully one of the DVB-T mux will be upgraded to DVB-T2 to replace the lost capacity!

Chris

Thanks for the information

What is rather strange is that my LG and Samsung televisions receive the "missing" channels and I am almost certain that I was receiving BBC4 before I rebuilt my PC, although I must admit that I use the BBC Iplayer for catchup on BBC programmes and tend nowadays only to use NPVR to record ITV and C4,C5 to remove adverts and for the occassional BBC broadcast that I intend to keep.

My suggestion would be that you use CrazyScan2 to check the signal level and quality. I think you are using a TBS 6280 which appears to be compatible with CrazyScan2.

You need to download and extract all of the files from the link below to the same folder, then launch CrazyScan2.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/crazyscan/files/

At the GUI, click 'Scan' and it will plot the received signal level across the UHF band. You can then click on the plot at a particular frequency to bring up the tool to check the carrier and constellation diagram, which will give you lots of info on the signal quality.

There's a lot of mythology about the quality of PC tuners verses TV tuners, but at the end of the day they're usually the same chips and front ends etc. Doing the above will tell you what the tuner sees in terms of signal quality. If the signal is good, then the problem is higher up the software chain somewhere, but if the signal is bad then at least you know.
