I was going by what others have posted since I haven't tried. What about --device=/dev/dvb

Yeah, I am pretty sure the first argument sub and I give was right but I saw the other too and it was a long shot. You will need help from your host. Maybe try it again and send the zipped nextpvr logs, we can check for permission errors.

I'll reply back if I ever get this to work through the Docker.
But, created a new win10 VM, passed the pci TV tuner to the VM, installed NextPVR, connected Emby in about 10 minutes. Works great this way...

Be warned, Windows tuner drivers are pretty flaky in a VM. I know company that tried to go down this path before having to decide to go bare metal.

That was hopeful, but still did not do the trick adding the line under USB Host/Device path /dev/dvb/adapter0
I did find a thread over at the TrueNAS forums: TrueNAS Scale - Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD on Plex / docker "Unfortunately, this isn't possible, as adding driver modules to the host kernel isn't feasible. You'd need to compile a Scale kernel from source, with the same config as the packaged product, to be able to add the DVB drivers you need. You'd also need to repeat this rigamarole at every upgrade."

Hi,
Currently, my machine is running Windows 10 and everything is working as expected. Now, I'm currently testing a TrueNAS install (I might switch to UnRaid if it does not fulfill my requirements). I have a PCIe Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD (DVB-T/T2/C) tuner and tried to run NextPVR as a TrueNAS app (docker image) like you. It seems I was able to go a bit further, I can in fact see my tuner in NextPVR ! But, I cannot manage to scan for channels... It doesn't work, but I don't see any error. I was "successful" through 2 ways : * (1) Manually configure NextPVR image with Priviliged Mode enabled (--device /dev/dvb:/dev/dvb does not work) * (2) Install NextPVR image from TrueCharts catalog and configure Mount USB Devices with /dev/dvb -> /dev/dvb (without Privileged Mode) In both case, the tuners (x4) are visible in NextPVR, but as I said, I can't scan channels, making it useless for now. Note that in (2) it immediately stops, showing 0 channel but in case (1), frequencies are shown in NextPVR UI, but the result contains no channal as well... That may help you getting it to work. Also, what logs can I share with you to maybe find what's going on ? I will try with a VM, but a docker image would be great. Regards, Tudal |
