I've been using NPVR for many years (thank you!) and in particular in the past couple of years I have been successfully watching a long (100min) TV show each day while it airs, but starting late, by playing a recording that NPVR is doing. This means I can then (manually) skip the ad breaks and gradually catch up to live during the airing.
However, since I upgraded to version 6.0.0 (220904), this scenario is proving almost impossible. It seems like there might be a bug in the Windows NextPVR.exe client application which breaks the progress bar and the ability to skip through the TV show accurately, if the show is still recording when you start watching it.
Skipping forward by 1min or 10sec (or whatever the ⏩⏭️ buttons should be doing) instead jumps forward by a seemingly random and large amount, often going right to the end of the current recording and stopping playback.
From what I have figured out over a few weeks of this, I think the problem arises when you try to skip past the point the recording had reached when you started playing it. For instance, if the show started recording at 12.30 and I started watching it at 13.00, I could skip ahead past a 12.45 ad break without any trouble, but trying to skip ahead past a 13.05 ad break would see the skip button leap straight to the end of the current recording, or at least substantially towards it.
Similarly, you can normally click around in the green progress bar at the bottom to jump to a particular time, but this is also not working properly at all in this scenario (watching while recording). Clicking it does skip but it could be in either direction, to any position on the bar, and again may make the playback stop if it goes to the end. I haven't managed to work out what's going on with this but I think it is related to the timing issue implied by the skip buttons problem.
As I say I think this was introduced in version 6.0.0 (220904) so if you are able to resolve it in a future release that would be great. I'd be happy to help diagnose further if I can. The show I'm recording is in HD on a UK channel if that is relevant.
Thanks very much!
