Trouble installing TabloTV Extra

No problem, I took the liberty of splitting the thread into a support post. One day I will write a wiki page for this I am surprised more TabloTV users haven't tried NextPVR

I did the same, unzipped, but get this when I try to run it with the install command. The problems seem to get worse once deleting the file it said to. Now I am getting another error.

I'm with rkkeller - same error. I installed today, added the  TabloTV-2.0.4.zip but similarly, don't see the mentioned .json to delete. I have an IPtV device that scans, is that the Tablo? I can't figure out how to get channels for it, but I'm not even sure that's the device I want to configure.....

Do you have the HDMI model? If so you need the not fully released 2.0.5 https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid578146 with instructions here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid578071 Ensure you delete the two json files on Windows too.

No HDMI version here, the old OG 4-tuner Tablo. 

I think I'll tear it all down and start over. I will follow these instructions, but a couple questions;

When you say to delete 'runtime.json', which one? There isn't a file with just that name.

Once I run TabloTV install in an admin CMD prompt within the folder, what would I expet to see in the Devices section? Just IPTV or something that says "Extra" or "Tablo"?

Both files with the json extension leaving the exe and DLL in the program folder

You would expect to see the extra installed. However at the command prompt you should see other information. Perhaps OG uses a different API. Can you access it from my.tablotv.com?

Yes, it is reachable by that web interface. 

I'll go slow and steady (probably later in the week though) and try to re-do with careful notes. 

FYI, it finds my HDHR device just fine....

When you type TabloTV install at the command prompt you should get some idea of any error when it runs. If you see nothing you may have to use the other options, this has nothing to do with the HDHR discovery.

1. Uninstalled so I can start fresh.
   
2. Went to web site, selected Download, Windows, then clicked https://nextpvr.com/NPVRSetup.exe
   
3. Got the download and ran it.
   
4. Appears to have completed fine, logged in to the server.
   
5. Logged out.
   
6. Deleted the two .json files that contained “runtime” from the root NextPVR directory;
   
   
   1. NextPVRServer.runtimeconfig.json
      
   2. NScriptHelper.runtimeconfig.json
      
   
   
7. Unzipped TabloTV-2.0.4.zip into C:\Program Files\NextPVR
   
8. Ran CMD prompt as Administrator, CD to root NextPVR directory (C:\Program Files\NextPVR)
   
9. Ran “TabloTV install” (no quotes) and see this;
   

C:\Program Files\NextPVR>TabloTV install
Unhandled exception. System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
   at TabloTV.Recorder.Login()
   at TabloTV.Program.Main(String[] args)
   at TabloTV.Program.<Main>(String[] args)

C:\Program Files\NextPVR>


Posting results since this doesn’t look like a successful ‘install’. Is this what I would expect to see?

No you you absolutely need those two json files you deleted.

After you unzip TabloTV, and you might as well use 2.0.5 as it has better logging, you need to delete TabloTV*.json

If this URL https://api.tablotv.com/assocserver/getipinfo/ doesn't show your devices you will need to use the discovery or manually enter the IP. If it does return your devices, the JSON might be different for your device.
