Hello, I have two settings problems.  Under Scheduler->Recurring, everything I've added is in the order it was added in, nothing is sorted which would be much more preferable.  I've even checked Config.xml for some type of setting.

The other problem I have, I created a secondary drive, to my NAS, is there a way to assign that as default?  Or must I put that drive in the dialog box and put the old C: drive path as a secondary drive?

One last problem, when I have a failed recording for some reason, I try to select DELETE from the most recent recordings, but then it doesn't go away.  It's annoying, I suppose it just scrolls away eventually, just doesn't seem to work.

thanks for any help, Jake

In response

1. Sorting is available in NextPVR.exe and UI client including the web UI client on the Setting page. From the scheduler menu option use right/left to get to recurring and the home key to open the hidden menu with the sort option

2. You can change default new recording will record to the NAS assuming you have the correct security.

3. This requires the zipped logs after you try the delete.

I have a new, much worse problem. My system was acting strange. Event logs showed DISK error, and it showed the OS needed to be reactived, and this is a VM. After a reboot, it fixed the activation, but then I found that the local disk was almost full. That was my belief that the disk had errors. I cleared them up, and then my problem spiraled out into not being bootable. I tried many times, ultimately did a re-install of the OS which retains the system in a folder called windows.old. Never had a windows 10 crash so hard.
Under Users\Public I have a full directory for next pvr, but I believe the most critical is npvr.db3. It is zero bytes. I have Recording-backup and recurring-backup, and they have data and look intact. My concern was trying to recover my scheduled shows. Can I use these files to get back to some normalcy? Whats the best way to restore the main files to a new system?

regards, Jake

The best way would have been a backup of the data folder. I would try

- saving the entire data folder somewhere
- reinstalling
- stopping the service
- copy the saved data folder over the new data folder
- remove npvr.db3
- edit config.xml to not delete missing files

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>false</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>
<CheckForRenamedRecordings>false</CheckForRenamedRecordings>
<NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing>true</NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing>

- restart the service
- import the two xml files

I did all the steps, but the last one I was questioning. When I copied over all the data, would the XML files already be imported, or is there a step in Settings that does that?

No they are not imported automatically that is why I have it as the last step.

If you've had to start again deleting npvr.db3, you'll need to scan and setup your devices/channels again. After this is done, you can use the 'Import Recordings' button on the Settings->General page to reimport your recordings.

Ok, I'll do that in a min, my windows has decided to do updates.  I'm essentially on a fresh install now.  But I do have the old DATA folder.

Thanks Martin and Sub for your help. I've had a hell of a time with my system. I've never corrupted a windows 10 HD so badly that it could not recover. I wasn't even doing anything with it either. The fresh install I had done last night also started down the corrupt path, fortunately I had an export from a month ago. I re-imported that and updated the recurring recordings. Since I had so many recurring it would have been impossible to catch them all.
Followed all your instructions, and got it working again. Actually, NextPVR wasn't to blame for any of it, I just didn't know how to recover. Learning all the time.

Lastly, it looks like the sort on the WEBui is set for "Priority order". Can that be changed to alpha then. Praying everything keeps going ok, I created a new backup just in case.

thanks, Jake
